Are recommendation letters absolutely needed at SMU?
When going through recruitment, are recommendations needed at southern methodist university? 2-3 per house is good right? And if a high schooler looking to attend Smu beginning the fall of 2012 doesnt know anyone who was in a sorority when should she begin expanding her search?
Thank you for taking the time to read this!!! |

Thank you :P
Sorry :S Looking through some of the additional posts I found the answer to another one of my q's. |
I would think as soon as the holidays were over would be a good time to start looking hard core. Give the alumni chances to arrange meetings with you and write recs. Are you sure you expended all your options?

recs are highly recommended. but it is only one part of a multitude of things. since we have deferred recruitment, PNM has the opportunity to meet sorority women all semester. sign up for recruitment early to get the most out of your experience and also to start meeting with your rho gamma. there's a lot of opportunities to meet sorority women throughout the semester - boulevard, philanthropy events, and we have some panhellenic sponsored events that all chapters attend.
just wanted to throw that out there, because it's very important to get yourself out there and get involved early. fall semester can be considered a whole separate part of recruitment. |
and since you will be meeting sorority women the entire fall semester prior to winter recruitment, you need to be careful how you present yourself, what you post on facebook-at all times.

I appreciate ALL responses!
I actually received my acceptance letters to both Smu and TCU(just got it today).Since I have been accepted to TCU, my first choice, I am going to go with TCU. But thank you all. |

You will need 1-2 recs per house at TCU as well. Get your info to your rec writers as soon as possible. The chapters prefer to get recs by July, and sooner than that is even better. Go Frogs! Welcome to the TCU family! |
I second what Blondie93 said. Also, TCU will be bringing in a new colony next fall, so keep that in mind as well. All the sororities at TCU are great. Remember to keep an open mind.
