Kappa Alpha Theta at Boulder

I just read an article that the Theta house at Boulder was badly damanged by a fire last night. No one was hurt as it is winter vacation. Only the house mom was home, and she was taken out by the fire department.

Anyways, I'm glad to hear that everyone's okay... and here's a link to the newstory:

So very sad but very happy no one was seriously injured. It is a beautiful old house. I believe it was the original Phi Kappa Psi house.

I saw this on firehouse.com today. :( Very sad, but I'm happy no one was injured or worse!

Looks like damage may top $1M. :(

Sending thoughts to all our sisters in the CU chapter. So glad that no one was hurt.

Link with pics (before and during the fire) of the house.

I just checked and I have two HS friends (well, a friend and an acquaintance) who are members of this chapter. I'm waiting to hear back from the friend, who is actually out of the US ATM and may or may not actually know this happened.

I send my love to the Thetas; this is one of those things you just don't want to hear about, ever, and I'm sure the girls are very grateful that they were all out of the house when this happened.

Also glad to hear that the house mom and dog escaped safely. :)

An update put out by our HQ today:

Quote:

Beta Iota Chapter is pleased to announce that the facility will reopen as scheduled on January 15 for 44 residents and the facility director. The remaining 16 members will be housed by UC-Boulder Panhellenic sisters.

On behalf of the chapter and the Beta Iota Facility Corporation Board, Beta Iota would like to thank everyone for their help and support during these past two weeks.
I'm happy for the collegians getting to return to their home this semester, and appreciative of the Panhellenic spirit demonstrated by the other sororities on the CU campus.

Hey guys, our chapter is going to do some care packages to send to the girls and the house mother who lost belongings in the fire, if anyone else is an active member it might be a nice idea to bring up with your chapter! One of our members is from the Boulder area so she feels a personal connection, but it is a nice sisterly/panhellenic gesture. I'm sure even a card would be appreciated!
