an upperclassman pledge in need of advice

I'm currently pledging for a sorority as an upperclassman and im having some doubts and a lot of issues...I need advice from someone, or at least someone to just hear me out. I'm very torn about whether or not I should just give up or stick it out. Its a bit personal so I'd rather not post it here but if someone just wants to PM me and talk I would really, really appreciate it. Thanks :)

Question: is this NPC or NPHC or something else? Would help to know that prior to requesting PMs.

And if it's NPC, I am surprised; I thought you would have graduated by now?

I seriously doubt NPHC.

It's the phrase "pledging for a sorority" that has me thrown. I'm assuming it's not an NPC because it's not a phrase I've ever heard before. But I've never heard it used in discussion about NPHC either.
1-what do you mean by upper classman?
2-what kind of sorority?
3-what kind of school?

If I may make a few leaps here, this gal is RUSHING an NPC sorority as a junior or senior and is wondering if it's worth her effort. If I'm in the ballpark, please provide more information so an NPC woman can get in touch with you who has a chance at being able to help. If I'm not in the ballpark, well, you're going to have to provide more information.

OP, if you are talking about an NPHC sorority, do not PM anyone on Greekchat or respond to anyone's PM. You have the necessary resources to figure this out without Greekchat.

Looking through her posts, I'm almost certain it's NPC and I'm pretty sure it's at one of two schools, based on her post history (I know that was two years ago, but still, transferring to those schools from the local CC is really common and easy).

DubaiSis 12-20-2011 01:30 PM

I never think to look at the post history.

This is not going to end well.

I'm curious to know what situation is too personal to post on a message board, but is OK to talk about in private with strangers.

I hope the OP finds the help she's looking for.

DrPhil 12-20-2011 01:36 PM

It may not be too personal but the OP may not want to hear certain types of responses from the GC population. It is probably a relatively common situation or a situation that is similar enough to other situations. Most people think their situation is different and worthy of its own conversation and advice. :)

Indeed, so probably NOT NPHC, as you first remarked.

Been schooled so now it's the first place I look. Doing the math, this poster is possibly a fifth year senior, just now "pledging"? IDK.

Speculating that this person failed to immediately transfer for whatever reason.

As an upperclassman newly initiated member

I would be happy to chat with you, or just be an open ear for anything you would like to discuss :)

For the record, I PMed her when this first happened, and she never responded.
