Brother Auction

Have a brother/candidate auction. Make a facebook group, with pictures and a description of each person. Start bids at $5.00, and do it over the period of a week. The highest bidder at the end of the week gets a couple hours of that person's time. Some of our brothers had to do anything from cleaning dorm rooms and dressing up for sorority girls, to being a designated driver. We raised about $50.00 for each brother/candidate auctioned off.

You just have to be very careful on this one, because it can veer close to hazing.

It's not hazing because brothers are doing it too. If it was just candidates or pledges, then it would be considered so. Because brothers participate as well, it is deemed non-hazing. Also, if the task given by the highest bidder is unreasonable, such as being naked or doing something ridiculous, then respectfully decline and take the second highest bid, or talk amongst one another like adults.

If the laws and policies that apply to your organization and school make that distinction, then that's fine. Just be aware that there are laws and policies that do not make that distinction -- some consider activities hazing if they are required to achieve membership in the organization or to maintain membership in good standing.

It's not required, it's a suggestion to someone that could be done to raise money. We were never required to do this, we came up with the idea while pledging.
