Rec Ideas?
Sooo I'll be participating in 2012 recruitment in early August as a mid-sized, (about 8,000 students) school down south. Being from New England I'm not totally sure where to ask for recs, it seems like I've asked everywhere! I've secured only one recommendation so far, and there are five npc sororities there. Also my area's panhellenic alumnae council is no longer active and has not been for years. I know finding recs is something I need to do myself but does anyone have any suggestions? I just want to try and be as prepared as possible when recruitment comes!
Thanks :] |
Well, who all have you asked? Teachers, school counselors, employers, Sunday School teachers, friends, parents of friends, your parents' friends..every adult you know and every college woman you know. Have your list of the 4 you still need and ask them all if they know anyone in those 4 groups..and ask the person doing the one you have if she knows anyone in the other 4 groups. NETWORK!

Although your city's Alumnae Panhellenic is no longer active, have you tried the AP for your nearest major city? Or you could try getting to know some of the actives involved in Greek Life at your nearest university. Some of the sororities do allow actives to write recommendations if the PNM is rushing at a different school.
Also make sure to ask your friends' parents; as well as your parents' friends (I know that came out a bit confusing, but I couldn't think how else to word it!) Best of luck to you! |
