Big/Littles?
Currently i'm going to a private university in Texas. Next year i'm transferring to a state school and plan on rushing formal recruitment. Assuming I will get a bid, i had a random thought run through my brain - as a new member and a sophomore, do get a big and a little, just a big, or is it completely up to the sorority?
thanks! |
If and when you accept a bid to a sorority, as a new member, you will receive a big sister during your new member period (most sororities--NPC and many others, I am not referring to the NPHC as I know nothing about it). You will be your big's little sister.
Whether or not, and when, you receive a little sister, will be completely up to your chapter. Active members of a sorority take on a new member as their little. |
okay so it has nothing to do with your grade - it has to do with new members. thank you for clearing that up! :)

You are correct. The point of a big/little program is to pair the new member with an active sister who can be her friend, confidante, and guide in the process of becoming a sister. This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with age or class level; you could end up with a big who is younger than you, but joined the sorority before you did.
Each chapter (or sorority as a national organization) has their own rules and methods for deciding when, how, and to whom they assign little sisters. If you join a sorority you will find out about it once you are an active, until then don't worry about it :) |
