Delta Delta Delta at Union College (NY) Is Sanctioned
The Tri Delta chapter at Union College (NY) has received sanctions from the college. Among other things, it must rewrite its bylaws and become a “dry sorority.” For details on the sanctions, the actions / activities required, timelines, and opportunities to earn back some privileges, see
http://www.concordy.com/article/news...nal-sanctions/ The November 15 article ^^ says that Delta Delta Delta HQ is doing its own investigation, and quotes Union's Director of Greek Affairs Tim Dunn as saying, “Tri-Delta is one of the better organizations at the national level, quite frankly… but they also are more severe in their sanctioning. They have made Draconian decisions at other schools. So we won’t know what the outcome is on that end probably until December.” |
It would help if they would state what on earth a "dry sorority" is.
According to DDD's national policies, they already can't serve, store or consume alcohol in their house, and underage members cannot drink alcohol at any time. All being a "dry sorority" would seem to mean is that none of the parties they co-sponsor can include alcohol. And this is different than many sororities' present policies...how? If they are trying to say that being a member of Tri Delta means that YOU AS AN OF-AGE INDIVIDUAL cannot drink alcohol, no matter the situation, the sisters whom that concerns are having their rights infringed upon and need to bring a lawsuit against the college. |
That's pretty unprofessional of the Greek life director to comment about the reputations and sanctions of other Greek orgs. It's disrespectful to students in other GLOs on the Union campus.

It would help if someone who knows what's what at Union to clue us in, if possible. |
