Thank you for reminding us about the good that can come from Penn State. This is how I want to think of my alma mater.

I always love hearing the insane amount of money THON brings in each year.

FTK! I was OPP when I went to State and continue to go to THON now (I transferred out after my freshman year).
What a great event! If anybody (student or not) gets the chance to go, I HIGHLY recommend it. It is simply breathtaking.

THON was featured on the Big Ten Network last night...

I can't help but wonder how the whole sexual abuse fiasco affected THON donations or if students saw a decrease in donations or people refusing to donate because of it. Any current Penn Staters notice any difference?

Can we direct this question and any answers over to the 'Former Penn State Coach Arrested' thread? I just don't want this one to start heading in a negative direction and become all about the scandal.

I am so sad that I will not be a student at this THON. I'm hoping I can come back, or can at least spare some money from my first real paycheck to make a real contribution.

I know I made a point to actually write a check this year, not just put a few tens in the cans. The students need this to be successful, this year more than ever.

I am on the donor and alumni relations committee (the committee in charge of receiving all major donations including corporate donations and all of our THONvelope fundraising efforts) and I am happy to report that there has been no drop of sponsorship or donations this year. THON's public relations committee has released the following statement:

"In no way, does this change the needs of the hospital or dampen the enthusiasm of THON's volunteers. At this point in time, we are letting the investigative process take its course. Please contact Lisa Powers at University Park for more information."

And thank you, LionTamer. It means a lot to all of us. :)

^^^That's great. I asked the question because I was hoping that it didn't!

Bumping to share this. It made me lol. I am so excited, THON 2012 is in less than 3 days! And I get to leave when I want to this year, haha. I have 11 friends dancing and can't wait to be there and support them all.

If you're interested in learning more, be sure to check out thon.org or to get a bit of an idea of what THON weekend is like, go on you.tube and search for THON videos. The ones by thontech are great, but there are also some produced by supporters that are just great. :D

Just got back from the best weekend of my year. $10,686,924.83 raised for the kids. All the dancers, donors, and volunteers did an incredible job. In our 40th year we broke the $10 million mark. Thank you to every single person that donated. I am beyond thrilled.
