Halloween 2011~ What are you this year?
So, now that the ghouls and ghosts are running rampant in the city, I've been pondering what to be this year.
What are you? |
My boys are being Jawas - with glowing red eyes, of course.
My eldest daughter is being Janet Snakebite - a rich widow with a terrible secret. For super hero day at the high school at which I teach dual credit courses, I was Grammar Girl, saving the world from poor English. On facebook, I am Wonder Woman. I wonder where I put my keys; I wonder where I put my purse; I wonder where the money went. |
My son is going to be a pirate. My daughter, for the first time, is not dressing up or trick-or-treating. She said "I figure any money I would spend on a costume would be better spent on clothes for my senior pictures next weekend."
I have a great costume idea for a group though. Easy and simple. Everybody wears white t-shirts and jeans. They are "The Plain White T's" |
A place around us had a theme of "Fear or Fag" for Halloween. A few of us were not happy with the language of the theme...so 3 of us dressed up like cigarettes (fags, if you are British) and one person walked around with a sign that had posters from my science labs about the dangers of smoking (fear). It was actually a pretty big hit.

Not sure if I'm going out cause I'm still sick, but if I do I'm being Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. Blazer, jeans, gym shoes, my glasses and make my hair messy-curly and I'm set.
It also helps that I've been told that I remind quite a few people of the character. I'll try to work in Lemonisms such as "NERDS!" and "blerg" and "I want to go to there". :) |
It's my birthday so we are going to Chattanooga for a few days.
I doubt I will dress up costume-wise except for the cute small red witch's hat on a headband complete with sparkly black spider.;)and wear black top/pants. |
I am going as a pink crayon & hubby is going as a jail bird.
Next year we hope to start the tradition on a "couples" theme. |
For my party today, I am just wearing a gold skeleton mask.
On Monday at work, I will represent the lollipop guild. |
For trick or treating on Monday, I'm going to be a princess with a tutu. For tonight I'm not sure if I should be a sexy leopard or a hipster... so many choices.
|
Recycling my costume from last year, since I'm going to a different party: putting on my cutest dress, doing killer makeup, tying a big spoon around my neck, and voila! I'm the dish that ran away with the spoon!
The best part is that it involves stuff I already own, AND regular clothes. I don't do costumes that involve elaborate ensembles in which I can't sit, drive, eat, use the bathroom, etc. |
I was a drill srgt and Mr. KDR was a doormat.
It's an inside joke between my sister and I--from a fight we had. Nobody understood our costume. Everyone thought I was going on a safari. |
|
The only party I went to was on Friday. Fiance dressed up as Polamalu, so I wore my Polamalu jersey too, along with fox ears and a tail to be his "foxy wife." Everyone loved it :)
|
My son is a skeleton. I'm a referee and my husb is wearing his football jersey (not sure if it will be the WSU one or the Seahawks...he's not big on dressing up). Should be fun!
|
Friday I was person from the 60s. Basically a shift dress, with super straight hair, pale face/lips and dark dark eyes.
Tomorrow I'm a cheeta if I can find ears and a tail. |
