Rec Letter Question

First of all, this is not the typical, "Omg, please give me a rec letter!" or "Who do I ask for a rec letter?!" question. It's a question about a question.. Which makes no sense.

Anyway, a few months ago(ish) I read a thread here on GC about someone asking for a resource for finding women to give them recommendation letters. Someone linked to a website that put you in touch with local alumna/e and I saved it in my favorites but.. It seems that it has disappeared..

I've tried googling and using the search function on here, but typing in "recommendation" or "rec letter" or anything similar brings up tons of threads. All of which are useful, but none of which seem to mention the website mentioned.. If anyone can point me in the direction of this website I may just have to bake you cookies. Or, considering I can't bake worth a darn, how about a Cookie Bouquet?

That Web site had zero traffic. Nobody used it. I'm not surprised. The best way to get recs is personally. Start asking around now, and keep asking. Ask your older friends who pledged this year who wrote their recs. Write it down.
Good luck!

Oh I'm asking, you can count on it. I've got a couple down already, but I figured it couldn't hurt to check the website as well.

Edit: Just to be clear, we are talking about this website, yes?

(Someone PMed it to me a bit ago)

You can start with asking your school guidance counselor(s) if they know any GLO women, and you can ask the lady's group leaders at your congregation. Be sure to mention what school you will be attending because they might want to help you get a variety of references.

You might want to see if you have a local Alumnae Panhellenic Group in your area. They would be able to help if you have one.

Yes and there are links for a lot of local Panhel groups. Click on that and then there is probably a contact us button.

The other poster gives some good advice though in having you find recs from people who know you personally.

I think you're talking about a different site.

The npcwomen.org site is still up (obviously) and is the best way to find the alumnae Panhellenic nearest to you. Not all the groups have links, but you can contact NPC headquarters to get a contact name or number.

This is to use after you have asked everyone you know personally for recs.

I just wanted to point out that I am doing this. I have my parents asking around at work, as well as my friends and their parents, teachers, neighbors, coworkers, random people I encounter. I've found a few, but some are just tricky to locate. Lol.

Hey, rush isn't for amateurs! But it sounds like you're doing the legwork. If you keep asking, you'll find what you need. And I don't recall if this was mentioned up-thread, but when you do find an alumna, remember to ask her if she knows any others. I have found women (friends of mine) from 6 or 8 sororities here in Dubai. If I can find them with the little work I've done, trust me, you can find them in Anytown USA. So (and this happened to me) even though I couldn't do a rec for a friend's daughter who is rushing this winter, I was able to find her recs for 4 of the 6 houses on her campus, just from within my circle of friends.
