Facebook Blocked by Norton
Is anyone else experiencing problems with FB and their Norton AntiVirus?

Be careful about Norton. Whenever I buy a new computer, I always uninstall any "anti-virus" software that comes with it, ... ya know, those programs that tell you to "subscribe" to their service to prevent viruses? Yeah, those. If you don't subscribe to their monthly protection, they will simply SEND you a virus. They're rip-offs taking advantage of people's ignorance about the internet and software. (Just my belief ... :o)
I have never had a virus on my computer because I always uninstall the anti-virus software. Microsoft has a free program on their website called "Microsoft Security Essentials" that will wipe out ANY bugs you're having problems with. You can download it right from their website free of charge. Hope this helps. :) |
I highly doubt Norton is sending their customers viruses.
But ditto on Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free, much more user friendly, and rates very high. It has gotten rid of bugs on my pc that other programs hadn't even detected. |

Every person I know (though I don't know every person in the world ... :D), who has ever slipped up and forgot to pay that subscription fee, suddenly got a virus on their computer that required tons of money to either fix or simply replace. I'd compare that to ones like me who completely uninstall the software and get NO viruses at all. Makes sense to me ... :) And, yeah, Microsoft Security Essentials is the bomb!! |
My Internet provider offers Norton free to all of their customers so when my McAfee subscription (paid) ran out, I decided to use Norton instead. It made my web browsing life so difficult that I uninstalled it and went back to McAfee, even if I have to pay. I found Norton's to be really user unfriendly. At least with McAfee, I know one of their systems engineer who would help me tweak it if it was annoying me.

Norton actually is pretty bad. Along with McAfee. Lots of bloatware. Which is never good.
The best (as in, my computer geek/technical support boyfriend who write programs for fun and the entire programming community he hangs with uses this) anti-virus software is Microsoft Security Essentials (as has been mentioned). It's free, stays out of your way, and is just awesome. :] |
I use Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security along with Trend Micro RUBotted. In the past, I've tried everything under the sun and Trend Micro has consistently been the best.

Another board I read occasionally makes parody threads. In this case, the obvious parody thread title would be:
