Recruiting for Greeks
Here's an interesting concept.
University of Alabama Greeks have started "Greek Life Ambassadors." According to the application, Greek Life Ambassadors are "expected to uphold the values of the Greek community, be knowledgeable about our four Greek Councils, and be able to give tours of the sorority/fraternity residences to prospective students and parents." Campus newspaper article: http://cw.ua.edu/2011/10/06/ambassad...ce-greek-life/ |
what percentage of the student population is Greek at Alabama?

I wouldn't think this kind of thing was necessary at a school like Bama. They don't really need to encourage more participation in recruitment. Or maybe it is a way to formalize things and keep a lid on dirty rushing?

I'm surprised they didn't have this before. I was a Greekseeker at NLU, er, University of Louisiana at Monroe 16 years ago, and we only had 4 sororities and 5 fraternities at the time (the NPHC groups weren't exactly included with us at the time, but times have changed for the better.)
