Little Sisters

We are trying to get the little sister program started at our school and I would love to know how you all do it. Ladies I would love to know about how it has affected relations too.

Fraternally Yours,

Just make sure what ever you do in regards to little sisters is unoffical. Setting one up would be simple. To start offer the most loyal girls that hang with you unoffical little sister bids. Then throw them a party only little sisters and brothers can attend. New girls will want that honor to and will work hard o earn it. It shouldn't hurt relations any all it could do is help. Just make sure they this earns them no special privilages except for maybe an occasional party just for them. If a girl is still power hungry things she can now boss brothers, pledges or non little sisters around remove her from being a little.

Here, the process is actually really formal. No first semster freshmen is allowed to be a little sis. this is to allow time to prove their loyalty to Tke and to keep upperclassman girls happy.
THe little sis bids are handed out by brothers bearing red carnations. A few days later a big brother ceremony is held and the pledges cook dinner for the little sisters and serenade them. THis is usually on thursday. On friday, a private party is held for the little sisters.

I have to disagree with you there. While lil sis's have no real power in the chapter, out of respect, we are usally allowed a certain amount of power. Examples: pledges are supposed to listen to us...not for big things, but like getting us more drinks and the like. (although it is often at the request of our big brother that the pledges do this,) However, non little sisters who act as if they own the apartment, no not happening. We worked hard for the priveledge of being there and a non little sis who shows major attitude is likely to find a roomful of girls very pissed at her. And most likely that girl will end up leaving. Not the nicest I know, but respect is a big deal.

Well sure if a brother asked them for a girl then thats ok but if a girl asked its up to the pledge but more than likely they will do it anyway because they like the gals. Each chapter has their own rules on how the run their unofficial little sister program. My chapter is super careful and if we think the girl will be a problem no matter how hard she helps us she won't get one. If she asked why she has been shunned we tell her and if she promises not to be power hungry she will more then likely get the nod next time. We have kick several girls out before because they thought they could tell pledges what to do. The official little sister program was ended by IHQ because the girls were getting organized , electing their own officers, and wanting the same rights a brother. Some girls even wanted to become brothers! Thats why my chapter gives no slack. I am sure the chapter you hang at has nothing organized and you girls don't want anything serious but like I said each chapter does its own thing.

here it is definately not about power. it is about respect and *grin* special priveledges! as far as being organized...lol...the little siss here are definately not that! i can totally see your point of view though.

Special privileges can get out of hand sometimes. It's usually not the sorority girls, but rather the GDI's. I'm not saying ALL THE TIME, but it seems like the ones that get out of hand are the ones that don't get a grip on greek life. I've seen some psychos out there! lol.

Littles and bigs at my school are really lax.

Example: My ZTA friend said "I dont have a little brother...I want a little brother!"

Me: I got my little Joe, how about it?
ZTA: Ok sure
Me: ::waves hands:: I now make you...Joe's big sister!

Jessi's gonna spend the next week writing notes for joe and eventually gives him a mug or set of letters, then she'll reveal herself next week if Joe hasn't already guessed. Big and little sis's are a kind of friend alliance sort of thing at my school. If you want to cement a group friendship, you pimp out your littles to other fraternities and sororities. Kind of like 18th century royal families. :p
