Comic Books

What comic books did you read in your youth? Do you still read them?

As a child and young teen, I lived for ARCHIE and Betty & Veronica. I have a box full @ my mom's house that dates back to the mid 70's.

I still read them, once in awhile. Growing up I read Archie comics, and Isis (a very short-lived Marvel series that was tied to the television show). Now I read Jay & Silent Bob/Clerks, Love & Rockets, and Liberty Meadows (which also runs in some daily papers in the US).

Growing up I remember reading the Archie comics, sadly I haven't read a comic book in years.

I used to read a million of them but now I only read the Justice Leauge America

I used to read my brother's SpiderMan comics, now I just read the comic strips when I get a chance in the paper.

I still read Curtis and I like the boondocks.

Japera1920 11-30-2001 01:42 PM

I use to read X-men and I just read newspaper comics

1. the Boondocks
2. the Lockhorns
3. Curtis
4. Herb and Jamal
5. Brenda Starr
6. Blondie
7. Ziggy

I am a kid at heart :D

I use to read Archie I have them piled up in a box somewhere. I haven't read newspaper comics in a while. But I love Garfield and Boondocks. What newspaper are Herb and Jamal in?

Me Too

Now I still read the comics in the paper when I get a chance.

Boondocks
Herb and Jamal
Blondie
Family Circle
Beatle Bailey ( did you know that Beatle Bailey is the brother of the woman in the comicstrip that I can't remember the name, but there are 4 kids. Dot, Chip, a little baby that has never learned to walk and another lil boy.)
Calvin and Hobes (sp) which they no longer print in my paper

That's all I can remember for now.

I read and collect Archie books too :)
I have about 276 of them at home, but haven't gotten any new ones in a couple of years. My oldest one is from 1979.

I passed them on to each of my younger sisters (3) and now the one reading them is 11 years old (the youngest), lol. I'll probably pass them down to my kids ;)

You can buy a box full of old comics at garage sales for a great price ;)

I was an Archie's fan myself!

.....another adored #4......

Of all the Archie Comics, Jughead was my favorite. There's something about that hat.....

I wasn't into Marvel comics so much, especially not the X-Men, but I liked Dr. Strange (the magician?) and some kids who were similar to the Teen Titans. I can't remember their names.

In DC Comics:

Superman! I had every issue of the Funeral for a Friend/Reign of the Supermen storyline EXCEPT for the issue of Green Lantern where they blew up Coast City!

Wonder Woman! I used to be able to get back issues cheap at a used book store. They stayed pretty true to Greek mythology.

Didn't like Batman as much, it was pretty dark.

I also used to read "Secret Origins"....it was a good way to learn about the heroes i didn't know too much about. That and "Who's Who" i think it was called.

I LOVED the X-Men and Spider-Man. I also read Brother Man (anyone read that?) and some Batman. Of course there were the Archie comics as well
