Does the whole sorority vote on which girls to give bids to?
or is it up to certain girls?
|
That is part of membership selection which is private to members of the sorority. Most likely, every sorority has a different method. Granted I can't even say that since I only know my sorority's method.
Either way, we cannot tell you. Don't worry about that too much. Just be yourself and make friends. |
i know 5 girls that will def get bids, should i try and become friends with them so i can get one too? how should i go about that?
|
Oh great, luckygirl is back. Let's see how many threads she can start before she's banned again.

Only e-board decides who gets bids. Oh, and the richest girl in the chapter is the tie breaker vote. The rest of the sisters are just there to look cute and serve punch.

Don't listen to the other posters.
Sororities have a very careful way of selecting new members. If they have more pretty and rich girls going through recruitment than spots available, they bring out a dart board to decide. The girls line up single file in alphabetical order and throw the darts. Sometimes every girl in the sorority gets a turn and sometimes they run out of girls before the end of the line. Don't tell anyone, it's a secret. |
we do a selection ritual involving a cobra and some wild mongooses
|
We sacrifice a goat and use ancient Greek divination techniques to determine which girls the goat's entrails are telling us to extend bids to. What, you thought we were just Greek organizations because of the letters? Pleeease.

do you have a soothsayer chair as well as a recruitment chair or are they botht he same position?

Ok, since everyone else is being super rude and sarcastic, I'll help you out and give you some insight on Sigma's MS process.
So every girl in the chapter sits down and the advisor reads the PNMs names off of a piece of paper. Then the members write the PNMs names on pieces of paper and write comments. The pieces of paper are all placed in a box. Each member draws a PNM's name out of said box. After each member has a PNM's name paper in her hand, they are summoned to the front of the room in pairs. The members two members tape that PNM's name to their shirts, symbolizing that they are representing that PNM. Ex: If I draw Suzy, then I tape Suzy PNM's name card to my shirt. If Sally Sigma draws Patty PNM, she tapes Patty's name to her shirt. And here's the MOST IMPORTANT PART that determines who will get a bid. The 2 sisters come to the front of the room with their chosen PNM's name taped to their shirts. THEN Rock. Paper. Scissors. Best of 3. Winning sister's assigned PNM gets the bid. The loser gets cut. |
Yeah, they're the same person. Buuuut, she doesn't act as the soothsayer chair until we drug her up a little bit. You know, like Apollo's diviners were.

Sigma has a very lovely way of selecting members! Thank you for sharing that beautiful ritual. |
Here's how we do it.
(a)We count the number of letters in each PNM's name. (b)Add the sum total of the dates in her birth and astrological chart (moon and sun signs). (c)Multiply by the average days in a year in which there are more Thursdays than Wednesdays but not Tuesdays or Saturdays, and the Thursdays must be equal to all the Mondays. If they are not, then we add in the number of fillings in the PNM's grandmother's mouth but that's only if the grandmother was born on a weekday in a leap year. (d)Minus the total of at-bats by the losing pitcher for the farm team in the PNM's home town. If there is no farm team, then we factor in the number of stray cats in the town dump. (e)Divide that figure by the sum of the sparks we counted when we spied on the ADPis who were toasting marshmallows at their Violet Volcano (and we still are not impressed by that Volcano, by the way). Tie breaker: the PNM whose shoe size is the same as BLH's gets an automatic bid. |
