How to increase my chances of getting a bid

Hey everyone!!! i went through rush this year but decided not to finish...if i want to rush again next fall..how can i increase my chances of getting a bid?

Finishing recruitment is the first step. You'll never get a bid if you quit.
Good grades- well above a 3.0
Leadership activities
Good hygiene
Friendly and talkative
Being interested
Good communication skills
Finishing recruitment
Accepting a bid from any Chapter that cares enough about you as a person to extend one to you.

Re-evaluate your priorities.
Know your Greek system. Do you have much of a chance as a sophomore?
Think critically about what you did wrong this time.
Consider informal rush.

No it wouldn't...you still wouldn't have a bid if you quit. ;)

Well i didnt prepare for this rush (no rec letters), and the house i was left with i didnt have the best connection with the girls i met..they were great girls..it was just not the right fit for me.

Was it the smallest sorority on campus? Did you get to meet the majority of the girls?

LOL, true, but I was thinking more along the lines of:

Quit due to an illness or family emergency= possible good outcome as a soph, if sophs are not unduly penalized at her school
Quit due to not liking the invite/s received = probably will have the same outcome next time around unless there are drastic changes in resume, grades, etc.

But you are correct. Quit =/= Bid under any circumstances.

It wasnt THE smallest...but yea def a smaller one...and i dropped right before pref night so i went through most of rush and met lots of the girls in that sorority.

Some thoughts about re-rushing:

It's important to look at your school and whether your campus is such that re-rushers and upperclassmen have a more difficult time getting bids. There are some schools where the advantage tends to lie with freshmen. There are also schools where 2nd time rushers are at a disadvantage.

Something to think about: ask yourself "what is going to be so different about me this time that would make a chapter want to take a second look?"

Ask yourself if you could deal with getting the same results as this year (if this one chapter is the only one to invite you back.) Or not getting any invites at all.

Also consider what it is that you want out of recruitment. Do you want to be part of a sorority? Or do you only want to be part of CERTAIN chapters?

All PNMs should be open-minded, but I tend to think that 2nd timers need to be MORE open-minded than a freshman might be. Going in as an upperclassman with the attitude of "I only want ______" or "I definitely don't want ______ or _______." isn't going to get you very far.
