Gift ideas for new members?

Hi ladies,

My cousin's daughter just pledged Alpha Chi Omega over the weekend!! I'm so excited for her, and would like to buy her a little gift to celebrate her initiation when it happens. Do you have any ideas? I'd like to get the ball rolling so I'm set 8 or so weeks from now. I was thinking maybe a hoodie with letters in Alpha Chi's colors, but if she can wear letters as a new member (can she?) maybe getting letters won't be such a big deal. She is very creative and artsy...very into music and the arts. I think she'll be a great fit for AXO! :)

What would you recommend as a good Alpha Chi initiation gift??

Totally clueless here...so thanks for your help! :)

Generally, (At least in my chapter - Iota Rho) a new member's first set of letters are given to her by her big sister. However, Once she's been initiated, she will want to wear her letters everywhere, so getting her another lettered sweatshirt would definitely be a good idea. Here are some websites that you can get them from: http://somethinggreek.com/shop/

Another idea for you: a lavaliere is a gorgeous piece of jewelry for you to give her. I got mine from this website:

Hope this helps!

In some chapters, lavaliers are exclusively for a big to give to her little as an initiation gift. I would not get her a lavalier.

I would get her a photo album or frame with her sorority letters and initiation date (if you know it) - that would be far more appropriate.

Just send her the hoodie. Sounds cute. You can never have too many letter shirts.

I've given small (very small) engraved jewelry boxes for keeping the pin before -- I haven't given this one (so I can't personally vouch for it), but they were similar:

I found a cute footed one at a gift store, but I didn't see one like it online after searching briefly.

*ETA: Here are a few pages of other choices on the same site (I haven't ordered from this company, so no endorsement implied):

**ETA (again) -- just had to google around -- and saw these already engraved (a number of choices and styles):

I really like the DG and KKG Limoges boxes (pricier) -- no other GLOs offered in the Limoges though.

It's always hard cause each chapter has their own traditions. My big gave me my first set of letters and a pin box.

My mom's friends sent me a couple necklaces with my sorority's symbols, a sweatshirt with letters, and a picture frame with the sorority symbol on it too. I still use all of those gifts!
