Looking at U of Arkansas

Hey guys! My name is Bekah and I am a senior in high school right now. I'm considering going to Arkansas next fall (it's actually my first choice tied with UT) however, I don't know anyone that goes to Arkansas that can fill me in on it's greek life! I'm very familiar with most of the sororities; my mom, sister, almost all of my aunts, and all my closest older friends are or have been in a sorority but i want to know how big of a deal it is at u of a. I'm not exactly sure what i'm looking for, but I guess just personal stories of how your sorority has influenced you. :)

I cannot wait to go greek next year, no matter what school i end up at!

Greek life is huge at U of A. The sororities there are some of the largest chapters in the nation. It is also extremely competitive, so recommendations and a great resume are essential. The sororities on campus are:

Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi
Zeta Tau Alpha

Hi Bekah - That is great news that you are looking at The University of Arkansas! In addition to what irishpipes said, I am going to guess that you are from Texas (since UT is your other choice). I wanted to let you know that there are TONS of students from Texas at Arkansas. Many of them pledge sororities, so I wanted to let you know that you will have many Texas counterparts with you up in Fayetteville and in Greek Life. I would also say that you should take a campus visit up to Fayetteville. October-November is just beautiful up in Northwest Arkansas. Even if you don't end up there, seeing the fall leaves is worth the trip!

I could go on forever about how my sorority has influenced me :) The women in my chapter (and some in the national organization) are some of my closest friends who continue to guide me to this day - almost 10 years since I left college.

Good luck as you get ready for college!

Haha yes, I am from Texas! And I visited the campus this summer and LOVED it. Of course, the first thing my mom and I did was drive around looking at all the sorority and frat houses :P and then had our tour the next day haha. Thank you guys for replying! I'm just trying to get a feel for the university and especially since I already know I want to go greek.
