My thoughts exactly. Maybe learning how to type properly in a forum should be her first goal to achieve before going on GC to "search out" membership from an NPHC. Even I know (as an NPC member) that doing that is a big no-no.

I'm sure the op was typing fast (at least I hope so) but it amazes me that people think that spelling (among other things) doesn't mean anything. Well, it does and you have to remember that EVERYTHING is a representation of you especially when you are seeking membership in an organization. It only takes a few seconds to review what you've written before hitting "submit" and that doesn't mean that we all don't make mistakes sometimes but this post is just careless.

I love how diplomatic you always are. It's so refreshing ... ;)

crashing to say ditto. rhoyaltempest posted an awesome reply in another thread. I'm signing up for diplomacy lessons when she starts a class.

With the exception of corresponding between close friends and family, spelling/grammar matters. If you cannot spell correctly or use proper english, you do not seem credible. A prof in college who always got flack for docking points for grammar even though it was a political science class (and not english, which people thought was the only acceptable class for mechanics to count in) told me that, and really it is true.

LOL. I wish I could say that I'm like that all the time but...NOT.

My close friends and family are even more sticklers than my colleagues.

Afterall, it is my family who always instilled in one another the importance of spelling and grammar. We had it reinforced at home before we got to the outside world. It used to frustrate me when I was a kid because we could only use "slang" if we were clearly joking. If we were serious we would get stopped and corrected to the point where we sometimes forgot the point of what we were saying. :)

AKA has no grad chapters in Chicago, and if they did, there's no way you'd be able to find them by using the google.
