Awesome cast. :) My favorites are in bold. My top three are underlined. It's like I'm playing Fantasy Football.

I have nothing against Nancy Grace except for that "Swift Justice" show. I'm really rooting for Ron Artest. :D

People are going crazy over Chaz Bono. Some people have an issue with him being on the show. Some people are also wondering whether he will dance with a man or a woman. I read a comparison to Lance Bass when he danced with a woman on DWTS. Of course Lance Bass is homosexual but he is not transgendered. Bono is not considered homosexual if you consider him to be a HE regardless of his (birth) biological sex. People are making some really mean comments about Chaz Bono. People can't just choose not to watch it. They have to be ignorant in how they express their choice.

Chaz officially changed his name. I think he still has his below the belt lady parts but no more boobs. (Yes I saw the movie way too many times.) I don't know why he wouldn't dance with a woman.

Exactly what is Elisabeth Canalis famous for other than being George Clooney's ex?

Yes, Chaz Bono is going to dress as a man & partner with a female pro. Can't wait to see who the partner is.

:)

The pairs:

Chaz Bono is a he and is dancing with a woman. Their pairs are apparently based on "opposite gender" (based on a two-gender system--some societies have more than two-sexes and two-genders--and the notion that it is "opposite") and is not based on sexual orientation.

I only watch this when there's a known celebrity who I respect (ie: Kristi Yamaguchi & Hines Ward). The producers ran out of real celebrities a long time ago, and are trying to find anyone who knows more than 4 people in Hollywood. It was fun when it mattered.

There are exactly two stars on here who I would be able to pick out of a flip book of 100 people: Nancy Grace and Carson Kressley, and for Carson Kressley it is more because is his a notable alumnus of my fraternity (Alpha Phi Omega) than because I would know if he wasn't...

I stopped watching a while ago. This show has bigger issues than Chaz dancing with a woman....I mean really....Rob Kardashian? Elisabeth Canalis?

Nancy Grace, Chaz Bono, and Carson Kressley in one season? Yes, I'll watch it this year although I don't usually. :)

Hope Solo is the goaltender for the U.S. women's soccer team that just played for the World Cup.

J.R. Martinez is an Army veteran who sustained burns over 40 percent of his body while fighting in the Iraq war. He now happens to be on All My Children, but he plays a character that is essentially himself.

Both of them deserve respect, IMO. Just sayin.

I tend to associate Nancy Grace with the Right Wing, (from which I expected fireworks with Chaz and Carson), but I can't find anything online which shows her as significantly anti-gay (note, I don't consider something like being relatively private on opposing gay marriage (if she is) to be anti-gay at that level). Does anyone have any information there?

Predictably, there have been death threats. As usual when it comes to group dynamics, people are responding to disagreements and perceived sense-of-threat by threatening violence. Violence as a social control mechanism.

It is always ironic that people would attempt to reinforce right-and-wrong/morality and norms through threats of violence. Therefore, wrong, immoral, and nonnormative are okay depending on who is doing it and why.

Yes, you can choose not to watch this if you disagree with it. Yes, Chaz Bono being on DWTS does represent a shift in what is accepted whether you agree or disagree with that shift. No, that does not mean the world will end. No, children will not want to be transgendered because they watch Chaz Bono. And unless you use this as a time to educate your children on who Chaz Bono is and what sexual orientation and gender identity are, your children will not know that Chaz Bono is biologically female. They will most likely think Chaz Bono is a "he" because Chaz Bono is one of the less obvious transgendered people unless you know who Chaz Bono.

Exactly - the kids who are too young to know about what transgendered is have no idea who Chaz Bono is (or who Chastity Bono was). I mean there are 25 year olds who have no idea who Chaz is. All parents who are up in arms about it need to say is "Chaz's parents were a famous singing duo in the 1960s and 1970s" and let it go at that. If you're afraid of them bringing it up on the show, DVR it and watch it before your kids see it. I can't imagine watching this show WITHOUT a DVR anyway (because the majority of it bores me to tears).

LOL. I really don't like watching full episodes. I watch the parts that interest me and watch the clips. I'm looking for excellent dancers and horrible dancers. Nothing in between matters. LOL. And, oh yeah, the fact that they are relatively "stars" also helps.

I just want to see Ron Artest twurk summin. Ying Yang in dis thang.

I'd say that the statement " I mean there are 25 year olds who have no idea who Chaz is" is a better reason to object to Chaz being on DWTS than the gender change.
