TLC "Livin' for the Apocalypse"
I'm watching it now.
http://tlc.discovery.com/videos/livi...alypse-videos/ But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matthew 24:36 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Mark 13:32 |
Some of the things that these people are doing are smart. Some of them are obsessive.

I thought this was going to be about a newly discovered "lost" TLC album. LOL.

LOL @ 33girl
One part of this show that they are FINALLY discussing is the transgendered woman (man-to-woman). It was difficult not to notice that he was born a male, his male voice, his funny voice (he requires close captioning), and his poor health. They discussed what could happen to her when the apocalypse happens. She needs estrogen and her medicine for various health problems. They don't know what would happen to her without the medicine (she would probably die) and how her body would respond to no longer having estrogen. Her body may revert to biological male despite being socially woman. She said "I was a male for 42 years...I've been a female for 10 years...." |
I watched part of this show. I had three thoughts:
1. Ew to canning your own meat. 2. These people should really hook up with the folks on Extreme Couponing. 3. I really hope they are rotating their canned goods or checking the expiration dates on that stuff in their pantry. |

Those who are looking for T-Boz, Left Eye (R.I.P.), and Chilli need to exit stage left.

Booooooooooo. Fine...... http://www.gifsoup.com/imager.php?id=46020&t=o ^^^*talking smack before I get back on topic* :p FWIW, I watched a couple of clips and the family I saw doesn't seem unhinged at all. It's like they're preparing for a run-of-the-mill disaster. And I really like how they did the "disaster drills" with their kids like it was a game. They had put fun into their prep instead of instilling terror in them like a lot of people are doing to their children. It sounds like an interesting show. |

I agree. One thing I don't understand is whether they consider the Apocalypse a run-of-the-mill disaster. What is the Apocalypse supposed to be? Nobody knows and that's the point, I guess. But, depending on what you consider the Apocalypse to be, having disaster relief is unnecessary. |
That's what I was thinking. If it's the "end of the world" a gas mask won't save you. But the guy (Daniel, I think) said it's "the end of the world as we know it" so it sounds like they are expecting some sort of environmental threat or explosion that wipes out most of civilization and the few who survive will start over.

True story: a guy my husband works with just quit his job (well, he really just stopped showing up, no formal notice) as an aerospace engineer to join his family in Montana, which is where he moved them a couple of months ago in order to escape a massive title wave that he says is going to destroy western Washington when a comet hits the Earth on September 26. They have no means of income currently, as his wife has never worked and there are no aerospace engineering jobs in Montana. They apparently bought a ranch and are building their own home. In the meantime, he has simply stopped paying his bills here in the real world, including his mortgage, yet he rented out the house to some poor unsuspecting family who is going to have the house foreclosed on them right under their feet.

I not only had to stop reading, I just closed my eyes and put my head down. There is so much wrong with that paragraph that I just couldn't take it.
