An article for every collegian and/or parent
http://www.oxfordamerican.org/articl...ou-doing-here/
"You’ll also, if my father and I are right, be truly and righteously screwed. The reason for this is simple. The quest at the center of a liberal-arts education is not a luxury quest; it’s a necessity quest. If you do not undertake it, you risk leading a life of desperation—maybe quiet, maybe, in time, very loud—and I am not exaggerating. For you risk trying to be someone other than who you are, which, in the long run, is killing." I love this article so much it hurts. |
Has the article been deleted? I clicked on the link, and all I saw was the title and an empty page.

Same here. =\

Odd - it works for me. Well, go to www.oxfordamerican.org and then click on In The Magazine. To the left you will see a list of articles - "Who Are You and What Are You Doing Here?" is the one you want to click on. I think it is worth the effort.
I'll try this again - http://www.oxfordamerican.org/articl...ou-doing-here/ |
The original article works in Chrome at least.

The article was lengthy, but well worth the read. Thanks for this, Miss Belle. I needed inspiration and *poof* here it came. Anyone who closes with one of my favorite Frost quotes is my new best friend.

I am thinking of using it for all my English 1301 classes this semester.
