Cut from UT Austin recruitment on preference night. Made it this far. What do I do?
I'd like to start this by saying:
I worked as hard as I could to be the best possible PNM. The only thing that was missing was that I wasn't a legacy, which I couldn't help. Please don't tell me things like - oh, there's spirit groups - because I've heard that enough. I just don't know what to do. I worked so hard and went through absolute hell this week, but was cut right before Bid Day. I feel visibly sick. What are the chances of me getting a snap bid? I heard about it from my roommate, who's a sophomore (I am a freshman). Does that even happen? There are a lot of girls this year withdrawing because they didn't get their first choice, and hopefully a lot will suicide. (That sounds so mean. I just...ugh. It's okay, I'll be fine.) |
Sorry for you...but don't let this undermine the fact that you made it into an amazing university that is so difficult to get in. I wish you much success and don't be down on yourself, it's a tough process. Best of luck:o

QFP removed, per OP's request.

--- Thank you. I'm trying to be positive about it, because there's nothing else I can really do. |
But I think I'll be fine.

OP... I don't know what you mean "don't know what to do." Surely there's more to do on campus besides being in a sorority and/or joining a spirit group. Try getting involved with different clubs or groups. We don't know the chances of getting a snap bid... We also don't know why you were cut. |
Good one.
---- At least I didn't describe what I looked like. It's hard to miss me in a crowd. It's okay, I know. I'm just really looking for sympathy and a way to talk someone. I would really appreciate the QFP being removed. |

I get it that it's hard, and you're gonna be a negative nelly for a while, but you might find better support by confiding and/or commiserating with someone in person rather than online. Perhaps someone to join some other groups with. :) Oh, and not making rash posts online where you can be found out. |

--- I won't be a negative Nelly. I can still possibly do things like continue with cheerleading. I'll jus tneed a few hours to get over it. |

--- It doesn't matter. I'm withdrawing myself from it as we speak. I know I've been dropped, but I don't want to hold on to the possibility of a snap bid. There. officially gone. oh well, I gave it my best. |
:)
I guess it really was for the better. Now I'll just join something else and forget all about sororities. |
I'm sorry this happened to you. Hopefully some of the advice in this advice may help the hurt you're feeling:
