Votes Needed - Model Search
Ok, y'all...I need some votes!
American Apparel Model Search Yes, it's a plus-sized search, but unfortunately in the fashion world anything over a size 4 or 6 is considered PLUS. So, anyway, that means I qualify. Please add your vote! ETA: Apparently, as of this moment, my entry isn't ready, but it should be shortly. |
Edit: Meh, I was being a Debbie Downer.
Best of luck to you, AF, let me know when to vote. Can you vote more than once? |
Actually, agzg, I don't mind the political debate. As someone who is around a 6/8, having a photographer tell me I'd be a great plus size model is sort of discouraging. The photographer agreed that it was a ridiculous standard, but it's something that's going to take awhile to change.
I've mentioned in the bridal threads that I'm happy to see that designers are starting to use more real-sized women as bridal models. There are always going to be those designers who insist on using walking coat-racks as models, but I actually see a minor changes coming. My dog in the fight (because regardless of what size I am, I'm 5'2'' and couldn't be a FASHION model, which is why I'll stick to commercial) is that my daughter is 6 and 4'3" and stands a really good chance of being tall enough to be a high fashion model. She's got naturally skinny genes, but I still don't want her to have to make herself unhealthy to model. She's got one fashion agency interested in her, and I would LOVE to see the standards change in time for her to be a healthy weight. Oh, and American Apparel is not generally my type of style, but for a National campaign, at this point, I'll take what I can get! Stupid link is still not active. ETA: I don't feel like bumping my other thread for this, but I also booked a job next weekend. I'm working the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Tourney (Joey Fatone is going to be there!!! My 12 year old self is squeeeeing) and the Durham Bulls game. I'm going to be either Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck in full costume. No, I'm not joking. I'm actually really excited. And again, I'm not joking - I'm getting paid to act goofy in front of people I don't know. |
Bump! The link is active now. Please vote!

Done. Good luck!

I'm still angry pants about it being titled "XL Model search" or "The next BIG thing." Ew. American Apparel does so, so many things the creepy way. But you're right - it is a national campaign! Voting done, best of luck to you! |
Done. Good luck, Jess :)

There are some beautiful women on there, but there are also some absolute TRAINWRECKS. I even saw a bathroom self-photo type picture.

Thanks everybody! And to answer a previous question...I don't really know how often you can vote...it seems to let me vote consecutively, but I can't tell if they're counting, so:confused:

I voted for you. Good luck!

Done. But I'm not sure my vote counted. The counter didn't change.
And what are some of these girls thinking? I know you can be beautiful and use things like this to get discovered without already having a portfolio, agent, etc., but could you at least TRY to look good in your pictures? |

I'm convinced that some of these chicks have everyone they've ever met on the Intertubes not only voting FOR them, but AGAINST others. There is no way I could organically be doing THIS bad against a cell phone pic of some trashy girl's ass. I'm not saying I'm drop dead gorgeous or even the prettiest girl there, but I've got NYC agents interested in me and I can't break a 2.5? SRSLY? |
I voted. :)
