About graduate students who wish to get involved in Greek life

Hi there,
I'm from Mumbai, India and I will be going to USA for my masters degree in Fall 2012. I will be a graduate student. I am currently 22 years old. I know that its almost a year away, but I was looking up student clubs and associations on the university website and I found Greek life very interesting. I have family friends who live in USA too and they told me that being part of a Greek organization is a great opportunity to get involved in activities. I contacted the chapter president of a couple of sororities at my selected university to find out whether they initiate graduate members too, as most sororities only accept undergrads (especially NPC). But the chapter of Tri Delta at my university said that they accept graduate students too. I'm very happy to hear that and I'm really looking forward to it. However, I'd like to get some feedback from other graduate students who are or who have been members of sororities, just so I get more of an idea about things, especially about rush.

Just because they CAN accept grad students, doesn't mean that they WILL. You can't just sign up and become a member.

True. I am aware of the process for formal recruitment. However, I just thought of it as a good option, may be something that I could try out for.
