My dream of attending Spelman College
 

Good Morning to all the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and all other guests and or friends:

I posted the "Career in Journalism" thread a while back and I wanted to extend my gratitude to everyone who offered such priceless information. I am in the process of choosing a transfer University or College, and my dream has always been to attend the illustrious and prominent Spelman College. However, I am very nervous about applying. I have attended a community college for the past two years and have managed to earn a 3.2 GPA while working a full-time job, and remaining active in my church and community. Has anyone ever attended Spelman? Would a 3.2 GPA be good enough? I'm fully aware that this school is highly competitive and I want to do everything possible to be granted admission. I've been on the school's website so much, I probably have it memorized verbatium! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time. Be Blessed!

Well, you want an impacted major and you will be a transfer student... Many of the amenities of Spelman somewhat have passed you by... If you do not care too much about the "social aspect", then the school may be for you... You will never be able to duplicate an education that Spelman can give. I have no reason to say you cannot get into Spelman--you never will if you don't try... So, ultimately, it will be your choice to do what you've gotta do!!! Good luck!

when i transferred to my current university, i found out by contacting admissions that the g.p.a. requirement was different than the freshman admission. if you are really concerned, contact the admissions office. with all that you have to offer, i wouldn't worry about it. good luck. e-mail me if you need anything ;) .

Follow through with your dreams...you will never know unless you try. We serve a God that gives us the desires of our heart, if it is in your heart to attend Spelman you have to take the steps to have that dream come to pass. God will work it out for you, if you allow him to.

Congratulations on your achievement thus far. I'm sure you have made your family very proud :)
