Can you tell I'm running out of themes for threads? Hope all the nerds who liked last year's Tale of Two Cities thread enjoy this one.

This is a small-school recruitment story, but a great one! PNM has had a blast with recruitment, and it's hard to believe bid day is already here.

The chapters:
Billy Pilgrim
Wild Bob
Kilgore Trout
Montana Wildhack
Valencia Merble

Going into recruitment, PNM didn't know much about the chapters, so she was keeping a really open mind. She was just excited to get to know everyone and to join a group ONLY if she felt a perfect fit.

ROUND ONE
 

Billy Pilgrim The girls at Billy Pilgrim were very sweet and welcoming to PNM, though she had various levels of connection with each girl. While all were nice, PNM felt the first girl she spoke to was much more at ease with the conversation than the others. The girls seemed very eager to meet PNM.

Wild Bob The girls at Wild Bob created an effortless, comfortable atmosphere. Each girl was very easy to talk to, and she connected well with everyone she met.

Kilgore Trout The girls at Kilgore Trout created a somehow even MORE effortless feeling than Wild Bob! PNM felt at ease talking with every girl she met here. The Kilgore Trouts displayed a lot of fun personality.

Montana Wildhack The girls at Montana Wildhack were nice. PNM had a nice time talking to all of them. She liked everyone she met, but the chapter didn't stand out when compared to Wild Bob and Kilgore Trout.

Valencia Merble The girls at Valencia Merble seemed less at ease with the conversation. PNM also got to talk to less girls at this house, so she felt she did not get as much of a picture of them as a whole.

PNM's Rankings after Round One:

5. Valencia Merble

I think PNM's most astute comment after round one was that everyone she knew had different favorites. For instance, she felt uncomfortable at Valencia Merble, but one of her friends said that she felt totally at home there! This is just further proof that PNMs need to take into account only their own feelings, not the judgments of others.

Vonnegut themed recruitment thread? I never thought I'd see the day.

Round Two Invites
 

For the second round (philanthropy), PNM was invited back to:

Kilgore Trout
Wild Bob
Montana Wildhack
Billy Pilgrim

That's right... her top four! PNM was ecstatic. In particular, she was really thrilled to be invited back to both Kilgore Trout and Wild Bob, but she was also happy to go back to the others because she hadn't gotten to know those chapters as well during the first round.

hooray!!! it's not fall recruitment season without a couple of epic stories from dgdramadawg!

Me either.I'm glad I lived to see it. This is epic. dgdramadawg, what's next? Cormac McCarthy? So excited!!!

I'd like to point out that Vonnegut attended the University of Iowa Writer's Workshop. Just sayin.

If I ever have the opportunity to write another recruitment thread, maybe I'll use Tom Robbins characters. How about a Skinny Legs And All recruitment thread?

Someone needs to do a David Foster Wallace recruitment thread. Although of course you end up becoming yourself would be a great recruitment slogan. Then again... Broom of the System, not so much.

ROUND TWO:
Kilgore Trout PNM loved Kilgore Trout this round even more than the last! She spoke with all different girls from the first round, so she got to meet a huge number of girls between the two days. They were all very easy to to talk to.

Wild Bob PNM loved Wild Bob just as much as the first day. She spoke to some new people and some of the same girls from round one, so she didn't get to know as many girls as at Kilgore Trout, but she liked everyone she met.

Montana Wildhack PNM liked these girls. They were nice. But nothing really stood out for her in either direction.

Billy Pilgrim These girls seemed really, really happy PNM had come back to see them again... but it was kind of offputting how super excited they were to see her. They didn't seem as relaxed and genuine as the other groups.

At this point, PNM says she is really hoping for her #1 and #2 to be her prefs that she'll eventually choose between, but she just wishes the others would let down their guards so she could get to know them more.

Round Three Invites
 

For the third round, PNM was invited back to:
Kilgore Trout
Wild Bob
Montana Wildhack

Her top 3! Her goal for round three is to try to get to know the girls at Montana Wildhack beyond feeling that they're nice girls, but not feeling a personal connection. At Kilgore Trout and Wild Bob, the goal is to enjoy herself and get to know even more girls and connect with more of them!

Round Three
 

Kilgore Trout PNM absolutely loves this chapter and everyone she has met here. She's just so comfortable here and loves that this group is not afraid to show their fun personality!

Wild Bob PNM really loves this chapter, too! Her comment was that she would be disappointed not to be a Kilgore Trout, but she would still love to be a Wild Bob.

Montana Wildhack PNM said she's still just not seeing much personality from this chapter. She thinks all the girls she has met here are nice, but she's not feeling a strong connection to any of them.

PNM was so excited when she got her pref invites:

Her top 2! Couldn't be more perfect! She went into prefs feeling confident she'd be happy with either chapter in the end.

PREFS
Kilgore Trout PNM can't love this house anymore than she already does. Today she really felt the emotional bond of their sisterhood on top of the fun personality they've shown in the previous rounds.

Wild Bob PNM thinks these girls are really awesome and special, and definitely a close second place. She knows she'd be happy to be a member of Wild Bob.
