Happy Thanksgiving!
Just wanted to wish a great Thanksgiving to all my sisters! Stay safe and have an awesome holiday!! :)
|
What did everyone do? We went to my mother-in-law's at 1:30, and then drove down to my aunt's for dinner again at 4:30!!!! It was a wild afternoon. I have leftovers coming out of my ears that everyone made me take.

4:45 a.m.- my sister-n-law thinks her water breaks and is rushed to the hospital
10:00 a.m.- I set the table for extra guests because my mother-n-law won't host her dinner because her daughter is giving birth (understandable :) ) 12:00 p.m.- False alarm- water did not break- Lisa is sent home. Mother-n-law will host her Thanksgiving. 12:30 p.m.- My sister still has not shown up at my house for Thanksgiving and she is in charge of the mashed potatoes. Sue starts boiling the potatoes (mind you- I usually make the kind where you add water to flakes). 1:15 p.m.- Sister shows up with mom & dad (dinner is to be at 1:30 p.m.) - JJ works on the mashed potatoes but they turn out like potatoe soup. I am in a panic- everyone is in the kitchen milling around- I yell- GET OUT! Go downstairs where the snackies are and let me finish everything! 2:00 p.m.- Dinner is served - mashed potatoes are disgusting, beans are over-cooked, my husband looks like he is about to cry and I just know he wishes he opted to spend Thanksgiving at his mom's house! 4:00 p.m.- My mom tries to start cleaning the kitchen but since she has had a housekeeper since she was 15 years old- her idea of washing dishes is scraping 25% off the plate and letting the dishwasher take off the rest. I shoo her out and do it all myself. Sunday- 2:30 p.m. - Everything is finally clean, put away and done. Note to self... let mom host Christmas dinner! |
I went home to Jacksonville for Thanksgiving. It was awesome to see everyone. My parents' have our whole family over. (Grandma, cousins, aunts, uncles- it was nuts!) It's usually a whole day ordeal- we have dinner and then hang out. We had a game of football going too. :)
Hootie- I saw the Spy Game- and I agree with you!! I was NOT impressed!! |
Thanksgiving is almost a week long ordeal with my mom's mom's family. (We celebrate christmas then, been doing this for 20+ years) We all go to a lodge on a lake, the out of towners start arriving Mon or Tues, everyone else gets there by thurs. We have dinner every night down there, Thursday we usually have about 100 people. I think the funniest thing is that there are several ex's (including their new b/gfriend)that show up every year. Not that we mind but my thoughts are that wouldn't they rather be somewhere else?? So with that many people things are bound to be interesting. Then on saturday we go to my dad's dad's family and have thanksgiving again. Boy am I ready to go to the gym!
Oh, I got to see my newest cousin! She's 2 months old, cried everytime I held her, but is a cutie. I'm the oldest greatgranddaughter in the family and she's the youngest out of around 35 kids. |
Everyone in my family either moves away and is never heard from again, or dies. Holidays are getting pretty depressing!!!! Thank God for kids, they make things so much better.
