Sophmore, and very nervous...
Edit: Seriously, thank you for your advice! I now have recs for most if not all of the houses. :)
It really just didn't occur to me for some reason to call the actual chapters. But everyone is super nice, and I recieved a lot of help! |
Since you have a full year of college under your belt, that is what's most important.
Have you asked your high school teachers? People from church? Parents friends and co workers? Your friends parents? Friends who have been in college for a year or so already? Put out a status message on FB? Have you asked all the men you know as well as the women? Have you tried CALLING the local Alumnae Panhellenic groups? Have you tried calling the NPC office directly to tell them all this? They may be willing to put you in contact with an alumnae who is willing to write a rec for you. If you're looking for random people here to write ones for you, you're mostly likely SOL. You're going into a very competative recruitment at a disadvantage - being a sophomore. Even with your 4.0 GPA, there are going to be hundreds, if not thousands, of women with 4.0 GPAs AND recs. I can't beleive you attempted to rush last year, and didn't hear about recs THEN. |
edit: THANK YOU for suggesting the NPC office, I just called and they gave me emails for the local panhellenic alumnae president.

If your town is big enough for a local alumPH, then you know some Greek women - you just haven't figured out who they are yet! They do not have to have attended your school. As long as they are a member of that group - any age, any school - they can write one for you. And when you find one who can do it, ask if she knows anyone in the other groups. Also, ask the college educated men in your life. Their sisters, wives, etc may be Greek or know some. I just did one for the niece of a man I worked with back in the 80's and 90's. NETWORK!
