Lottery Time!

Why am I not smart enough or rich enough to pull this off! Anyone ready to pool their money? If all of us just put in ........:D

"An elderly couple stands to make millions of dollars after purchasing more than $600,000 worth of lottery tickets over a three-day period, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

Marjorie and Gerald Selbee, both in their 70s, each bought $307,000 worth of $2 tickets for a relatively obscure Massachusetts lottery called Cash WinFall. One location that sold them half the tickets, Billy’s Beer and Wine, had sold only $47 worth of tickets the day before."

It's surprising those involved allowed themselves interviewed/mentioned in the article - there are actually a handful +EV lottery opportunities nationwide, although you need a large bankroll (obviously), but most aren't keen on advertising them (also for obvious reasons). I think the most prominent example came when the Virginia state lottery got high enough that one group attempted to buy out every numerical combination (something like 1.4mil IIRC).

FYI, pretty sure the Powerball/Mega Millions +EV cutoff is something like $300mil depending on how you account for splitting and the lump-sum valuation.

Good for those folks, though - easy money is the best money.

Can you imagine going into a convenience store and buying $600K in lottery tickets when only $47 worth of these tickets have been sold there? Must have shut them down for hours.

The VA incident, I actually saw footage of the 'process' and it was unbelievably chaotic ... they tried something insane like 14 different places with 100k of tickets in each one, but since they were buying them all (so 'random' picks wouldn't work) each card was hand filled out (and thus ran through a machine) ... was literally days of work. I think they still fell a couple hundred thousand tickets short, although they hit the 85%er or whatever.

It's a pain in the ass being behind somebody getting $20 worth ... I'd murder a dude if he had a stack of 600k easy-plays.
