Dual Memembership
Is it possible to join another service org such as our frat Alpha Phi Omega. I was just asking because I know of some Gamma Sigs who are both GSS/APO. Are there any APO/OPA out there.

Nothing in APO's bylaws
There is nothing in Alpha Phi Omega's bylaws that would prevent it and in fact an Alpha Phi Omega chapter should *not* use membership in another organization as a determining factor.
Thread on APO/GSS dual membership at http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=112927 The only Greek Letter Organizations that I have seen that care about Mutual membership are the Social Greeks (incl NPHC) , somehow the Music Fraternities/Sororities and a *few* honoraries where they are in the same subject as each other. As far as I know you could even have someone with membership in OPA/APO/GSS, but I think the most likely situation there would be belonging to one of the sororities as an undergrad and advising the other two as a professor. |
Omega Phi Alpha welcomes all potential new members, even if they already have membership in another Greek org (social, academic, etc.)

Latest OPA Constitution I can find online is 06/07 (or 07/08 depending on whether you believe the document title or what's in it)
http://www.omegaphialpha.org/Members/07-08const.pdf No limitations other than being enrolled in the school with the chapter. |
I know of at least one APO/OPA member. She joined OPA first (as an undergrad) and then APO (as a faculty/staff advisor).

There are some chapters that are associate members of their schools panhellenic councils, so in that sense dual memberships in OPA and PHC sororities may not be allowed.
