Incentives for dues

Does your chapter give any incentives to members who pay dues on time or before they are required to. If so what are some of the things you guys give?

Prepayment Discounts. Example: Semester Dues are $325 (5 monthly installments of $65). Those who can/or make arrangements to pay $300 by the first day of classes only pay $300, and get a $25 discount.

The key to this is you want to make the discount big enough that at least some members want to take advantage of it, but not SO big that everyone does...otherwise, you'll be doing a disservice to your chapter budget.

Another thing you could do is purposely raise chapter dues with the intent of offering a discount, or building your chapter budget based on the discounted amount per member and anybody who paid in installments was just adding a little more padding to the chapter budget by paying the higher amount. This may be necessary if your have a cash flow issue at the beginning of the semester....raising chapter dues to offer a discount to those who can pay in full, forces those members to pay in full early on in order to avoid paying more money over a longer period of time.

It's no different that paying an installment fee, like for your car insurance, versus a discount for paying the entire premium up front.

We typically say:

"Not to be the Douche bag, but i think it's insane that you can't pay dues early or on time when our country will go into financial default soon. At the same time, it is not surprising what so ever when members have problems paying dues so needing incentives is no surprise. Therefore, I don't see why people act so concerned and are looking for incentives. Then again I have a problem with thinking about this when there are things like national financial default and military women and men fighting overseas that we can be concerned about."

We used to do a small discount similar to the first response, however that messed up our accounting system and obviously lost money for the chapter. So recently instead of that, we would offer points to girls who paid the entire year upfront. There is no incentive for paying on time since that is just expected.

Really... as much as i find the humor in what you just did you could have put something useful in addition to your insult. And if it means shit to you, its my job to get other people to pay and unfortunately i find incentives a necessary means to do my job.

As much as i find the humor in what you just did, couldnt you have actually added something in there useful to this thread as im sure i am not the only person that may have a use for it. And its my job to make sure people pay, so unfortunately i have found it necessary to use incentives to be more efficient

When I was in school there was a monthly drawing and Sisters who had paid their dues on time were all entered into the drawing. it was usually a $25 gift card to a local restaurant or retail store. Somre months it was a cute gift from the local Greek store.
