High Maintenance

Today, I had a long conversation with my friends about what it means to be High Maintenance. What does it mean to you? Has anyone ever told you that you were High Maintenance? What is the opposite of being High Maintenance to you? Would the fact that a person was High Maintenance influence your decision to date/not date him/her?

H M

I consider myself High Maintence. But I don't expect anyone to sponsor that but me. I pay for what I want, how I want to look, how I want to feel. I get my massages, pedicures, nails, hair, whatever I think I want. I don't mind dating someone H M as long as they don't expect me to sponsor them,.

It means someone who is concerned about her outward appearance more so than nurturing her inward one, IMHO. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking pride in one's appearance, but when you'd rather get a perm than pay your phone bill, or buy a new dress when you can't make your car payment, you have a problem! :D

I'm not high maintenance anymore. I was on my wedding day, but that was the first time in years that I felt that way. Simple hair, simple clothes, and simple makeup is my motto.

Well High Maintanence to me means you more TLC and Time than most people. I take EXTRA care to make sure I alwayZ come correct when I walk out of the door. (I don't ever believe in walking out of the house busted) I also need extra TLC from my beau, friends, and family. I have been told I was HM on MANY occasions and it never bothered me any. As far as the opposite of HM, I think it's LM. I was just telling this dude the other day that 2 high maintainence people will have some real issues...but if they compromise it can work.

I agree with what everyone has said. I think i'm middle high maintance, if that makes any sense. I have to have my hair done every too weeks, I can't go out of the house in just anything, etc. I wouldn't mind dating someone who was high maintenance as long as it didn't get out of control. My HS sweetheart took ALL of his clothes to the cleaners. If he got anything on his clothes he HAD to change.

When people think of High Maintence, they think of the material aspect of it. I think of myself as HM because I have a certain way I like to present myself while I am in public. I really believe it is a way of life for others.

When might consider themselves as HM, you might be classified as a snob or other names that I care not to mention. You have to think about yourself in high esteem because you do not, who else will.:D

I think HM can be looked at in a couple of ways...(depending on the person that made the comment)...I have been called HM by brothers that realized that a sista has high expectations of what her man SHOULD do in a relationship...hence he deems her HM based on her expectations of her mate...

As some sorors have stated HM can be about "doing you" on a regular, there is NOTHING wrong with that, my mother taught me to never leaving the house looking less than SUPREME ;) as you never know who you will run into...so with that being said, i make sure that i LOOK and FEEL good at all times...because no matter how good you look, if ya feel a mess than that will overpower your outward appearance! If people see that as being HM, then hey, I am what I am! :D

Just my lil $19.20

Emotionally

I am high maintenance, at least according to my boyfriend! :D I demand a lot of attention and nurturing and I expect a lot of time and energy from people as well.

Physically, I am not so high maintenace. I like to think I look decent, but I really don't take much time to get dressed unless I'm really going to town.
