Bid day gifts!

Ideas on inexpensive bid day gifts/Little gifts? I was thinking of setting up a crafting line and doing bags and frames..painting them and all of that, maybe! Any input would be greattt

there are various sellers on ebay that sell single iron on letters, my little ordered some and ironed them onto a sale fleece blanket (that she got for maybe $5) and it looked soo cute! that would be a good idea. you can also buy bigger wood letters (think like maybe a foot or so big) at any craft store and paint them and hot glue ribbon on the back for hanging.

You don't need to buy iron on letters! Make a good stencil, buy some Heat n Bond and cute fabric, and go to town. Puffy painting the edges helps them stay down.

that's such a good idea, i love that the puffy paint serves as both stylish and functional. i will have to head out soon and try this out (even though i own entirely too many lettered items! :o )

Glad to help! A good stencil is essential, as is some puffy paint practice. But this is how we craft everything for our littles on my campus. It's relatively inexpensive, a lot of fun to do, and with practice it will come out really really cute! Plus you can use whatever fabric you want on whatever article of clothing/bedding/whatever.

And there is no such thing as too many lettered items!!

HannahXO, I think we should be best friends. It sounds like you love crafting as much as I do!!

I am already working on things for my future little, and match up isn't until October! Anyways, back to bid day gifts... I have always been a fan of those cute sashes that every NM gets, a la Miss America. Plus if this is specifically for ZTA, I think it would be super cute if you got all of the NMs little plastic crowns. I'm sure you could get them fairly cheap at a place like Oriental Trading Co. or something. It's always special when each new member gets a sign that says "Welcome home, (NAME)!" or something cute like that. I know that might not be practical depending on the size of your pledge classes.

A lot of girls in my chapter will decorate those foam crowns for their crown littles (bid day temp little). And strawberry candy is always good! :-)

We also decorate plastic cups with girls' names on pref night. The girls that come to our house on bid day get theirs back! :-)

You can find a lot of cute little things (keychains, pens, pencils) with crowns or strawberries. Someone gave me an iron-on patch set as a gift that had a strawberry and a white violet!

You guys, I'm looking at the Bed Bath and Beyond leaflet and they have a turquoise-to-gray reversible comforter!

gatorbaby, craft stores will be your friend. go to hobby lobby or michaels and look in the sale bins. think about what gifts you got when you got your big and try to duplicate those yourself.

the summer before my daughter entered her sophomore year she bought 4 identical glass jars (lidded) and ordered turquoise and grey m & m's and had them imprinted with z, t and a. she tied a grey and a turquoise ribbon around the neck of the jar and that is what she gave as her temporary big gifts to her 4 temp. littles. she had enough m & m's left over to buy two more containers and give the remainder to her twin littles. they were a big hit with the littles as well as everyone else in the chapter.

thanks carnation for the turquoise/grey blanket tip.
