Phi Mu

Hi everyone.
I was a Phi Mu for 2 short semesters (those that just passed) before I had to quit. I failed both semesters and I'm getting married and moving out of state in less than 2 weeks and I need to sell some of my Phi Mu things. I loved being in it but life changes.

I have a few jerseys, a pillow case, and some other things too. :)

Just donate them to your chapter. Don't try to make money off of it.

I totally agree with this statement. I get even more upset when I see Phi Mu sisters sell their badges because they "need the money" so, don't be THAT girl.

Two guesses what "some other things too" include.

It's in poor taste to sell these things but I don't know your situation so I'm not going to condemn you. Try selling it before big/little or on ebay. I know a girl that was a member of a different org that deactivated and sold all her stuff to members in her pledge class. Good luck.

You have no idea how much this angers me. Re: KatydidKD, myodb. Seriously. If someone wanted to sell Kappa Delta stuff, I wouldn't tell them that they should go and sell it on (the site I won't mention). You have to be a troll or a puppet and you're getting on my last nerve.

If you "loved" Phi Mu so much, you wouldn't be trying to "sell" your items. Instead, you would give it back (like you are supposed to) to your chapter--and possibly your Big Sister. Whether those items were given as gifts or not, they DON'T BELONG TO YOU! You are NO LONGER a Phi Mu. You have NO RIGHT to wear those letters or sell them. Do the RIGHT thing and give them back. If not, be gone.

We had girls that quit and sold their jackets back to the chapter, because those were kind of a big chunk of change, and better for them to sell them back to us and us to KNOW we had them. I have no idea how much jerseys cost.

If she failed both semesters (I'm assuming she means her grades) it's possible she never truly initiated and therefore never got a pin.

Oh, chill out. It's not a pin. Anyone, ANYONE can buy whatever letters they'd like on the internet or a greek store. Pins are a whole different thing. If I wanted, I could buy however many XYZ t-shirts, jerseys, jackets on greekgear.com. How is that different than getting them from ebay?

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you actually KNEW what she was selling. Shut up and go away. I won't chill out. YOU have NO IDEA what she may be "selling" because she is no longer a member. As far as selling items with letters on them, those letters no longer belong to her so, she should GIVE them BACK to actual MEMBERS. If you don't like it-don't post to someone from another GLO about how they should go to that site and sell items that don't belong to them. Stay in your lane, troll.

This is just funny now. She mentioned jerseys. With the exception of the pin, she can really do whatever the hell she wants with it. Anyone can buy phi mu or abc or xyz jerseys. takes a credit card and the internet to order however much apparel you want.

als463 = a Phi Mu

katydidKD = not

Only members of the organization can accurately speak on protocol and guidelines for clothes and pins.

Thank you, DrPhil. Somehow, I don't think the troll actually gets it. If you aren't a Phi Mu, don't tell me how something should be done. Just as I wouldn't tell a Kapa Delta, Delta Sigma Theta, or Sigma Kappa how something in their organization should be done because it would be stupid of me and very disrespectful.

I had no issue with this KatydidKD, initially. Now, I wish she'd go troll some other online forums because she is annoying.

:) That's why I occasionally read and post in the badge thread to make sure people are not speaking too generally. When in doubt contact NHQ or go with what members of the organization advise. I wouldn't even advise a member of another GLO to sell tshirts on eeebay because I don't know what's on the tshirts (may be chapter-specific) or what else the person may try to sell. Some people really need the money and others just want to get rid of stuff (hence, putting things in the trash or going to Goodwill).

General comment that applies to other topics:
If people don't want to adhere to protocol and what I consider basic respect for the GLO, just do whatever you do, don't ask people for advice, and keep it to yourself.

It's honestly just disrespectful to come into a thread labeled "Phi Mu" and taunt a Phi Mu. Your attitude is perfectly fine under a general comment thread. Otherwise, stick to a KD thread if you'd like to argue the point. If a Phi Mu would like to argue with als463 about selling letter shirts on eBay, that's their business.
