Thanksgiving

Here is a question for everyone: Is there someone coming to your Thanksgiving who you dread seeing? I come from a small family & just wondering about family weirdos lol! If you dont have someone you dread seeing...who do you look forward to seeing most?

I look forward to seeing my brother & his wife Rebecca because they live in Atlanta & are both pilots so I dont see them often...and of course their boston terrier Mae.

My family could live, own and operate Misfit Island so any holiday can bring chaos ..... but hey- you gotta love them- they're family!

same same same, every holiday here at my house is always kinda crazy. I have 3 sisters( not including me) and 2 brothers, so there is always some kinda drama, being that we all are home for a quick break from school, and don't even get me started on aunts and uncles :P
Usualy I dread All family get togethers, I usualy hide out in my room until someone knocks on the door, lol
But for some reason this yr. I am not even worried about it :D
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

UGH...

My mother.

God I cant handle that woman. She belittles me, annoys me and we do NOT get along. 3 days in Hosuton this summer was MURDER. If it want for my new nephew, I wouldnt even be going, but my sister is dying for me to see him. Our relationship is so bad, I didnt even give her my phone number. Avoidance is my key to survival.

My mom was going to dallas to see a freind, but when my brother -in-law let it slip that I was coming she cancelled her plans. Damn.

You could say we are dysfunctional. For Thanksgiving dinner we're doing pot-luck. Everyone brings a dish and an un-resolved issue. I am expecting the ulcer to kick up to full speed by Tuesday night.

At least I am tight with my sister and brother-in-law...

My husband's uncle. He is so LOUD, and he drinks like a fish - where alcohol is concerned, we only buy the good stuff, which he doesn't appreciate. We're hiding the liquor cabinet :)

I love dogs, BUT...

My mom and dad will be coming down to celebrate Thanksgiving and in tow will be my mom's Pomeranian, "Cornell". Cornell is a hateful, mean little ball of fur that pees everywhere, barks and snaps and tries to hump my two dogs everytime my back is turned!

I swear, if Cornell hadn't belonged to my late grandmother, I would "forget" to close the gate when I let him run around in the back yard.

We're not going to see ANYONE this year because of the following crazies in my family:

1. My Aunt who last thanksgiving decided that she was leaving her husband and 10 year old child for a trucker she met in a Slingo chat room in AOL.

2. My other aunt who served "turkey roll" 2 years ago, along with oyster stuffing and other disgustingness. Though this turkey roll was topped by the bat that swooped into the house and disrupted everything.

3. My cousins who deliberately attempted to set things on fire at the kiddie table.

4. Other cousins who throw tantrums if they dont eat at specific times.

5. My uncle who almost came after my grandmother, his mother in law, with a potato masher yelling one year "DONT YOU THINK I KNOW HOW TO MASH POTATOES!"

6. Someone at that damn table who always spoons sweet potatoes onto my plate even though I voice every year that I dislike them.

7. My grandmother who has come into the room where people (not just the men) were watching football and abruptly switched off the tv saying "lets go into this room now".

the list goes on...these are but the highlights. we're having thanksgiving with just my immediate family, and bunkering down to weather the storm.

Sounds like my aunt's Pomeranian! She doesn't have any kids, so this dog is her baby, and he is SO spoiled! He yaps constantly while we eat, begging for food. If you ignore him, he puts his paws on your knee and scratches you until you throw turkey in his general direction. My mother has white carpet in her house, so you can imagine how paranoid she gets when this dog is let loose to run around. We've found yellow marks in nearly every room after his visits.

He also annoys the heck out of my dog, a miniature schnauzer who hides under the bed or in my dad's chair (too high for the pomeranian to get into) whenever my aunt's dog comes to visit.

My aunt, however, is the sweetest person, so no one will tell her how we truly feel about her dog. It would completely crush her if she found out that her "baby" is the black sheep of our family! :D

I am really excited to go back home and see my family!! I am from Jacksonville, FL which is only 2 and a half hours away from Orlando, so it's not a bad drive at all. It'll be nice to see all my old friends too.

I hope everyone has a great holiday!! :)

Mom and I do NOT get along

I only go home when I have to, Christmas break and the 2 weeks between summer II and fall semester. My mom totally annoys people and unfortunately my mother is the one in the family that everyone avoids. I will spend Thanksgiving here at school sleeping more than likely.

Awww Eirene_DGP...if you were close to Knoxville you could come eat dinner with me and my parents - very low key but good!

Thanks for the offer! My brother is actually stationed at Ft. Campbell KY and offered to spare me the trip of going home, but that is a long 9-10 hour drive. Maybe next year when things calm down I will fly to him. Anyways. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!!! :D
