In High school in Grapevine I slacked with my grades but I was active in 9 clubs which took up all my time and dedication so my first year I went to CC now I am heading to Tech in August with a 3.57 What are my chances of getting any bids?

I also have rec letters for two houses.

I can tell you that having recs for 2 sororities is not enough. Get recs for ALL of the sororities. While having a decent GPA, no one can really tell you what your chances of getting a bid are. However, you really need to get those recs. Good luck.

Yes. Recs are a must at Tech. Contact the mid-cities alumnae panhellenic today. It may be too late, but perhaps they can help you. If it is too late, then start your networking. Living in Grapevine there are no doubt members (dozens to hundreds of them..) of all the chapters represented at Tech.

How would I begin networking? I don't know many girls in sororities just know of some girls that I went to school with in the past who are know apart of tech greek life.

Ask, girl! Ask your former teachers, people form church, people you work with, friends of your parents, parents of your friends. And don't limit yourself to just asking women, ask men if they know if any sorority women who might be willing to write an info only rec for you.

And still contact the alumnae panhellenic group nearest to you.

Typically (though this depends on the sorority) only alumnae of that sorority can write you a rec. Some sororities allow active members to write them, but all allow alumnae to write them. And they DO NOT have to have been Greek at Texas Tech. They could be from Mizzou, USC, Colgate, PSU, etc etc. They just need to have been Greek somewhere and be from a chapter that is represented at TX Tech. And like others have said, start networking now! Email every teacher you've had previously (in HS and CC). Ask every woman or man at your church or temple. Heck, ask if they could put in an announcement or note in the bulletin to contact you if they were Greek. Ask your doctor, dentist, parent's friends, neighbors, everyone. And use each opportunity to speak to that member as though they were rushing you. Try to spark an interesting conversation with each of them as though it were recruitment. That in itself will give you some real life practice for recruitment in the fall. Best of luck and let us know how it goes! =)

All of the above. In addition, just start knocking on your neighbors doors and ask around at your place of worship (if you have one). Grapevine and Colleyville are teeming with sorority alumnae. Ask your friends' mothers and sisters, fathers and brothers. I would lay money that at least 25% of the households on your street have a Greek member/alum in them. It may be even closer to 50%.

Get moving though! Time is of the essence.

Ask your friends if their mom's were in a sorority (these are people that know you best) and definitely contact your alumnae panhelenic trust me they are still writing recs and can help you!
