Woman could face death penalty in microwave baby case

I couldn't find an older thread on this to post the update.

The woman accused of killing her infant daughter in a microwave earlier this year was arraigned this afternoon on charges of murder and assault causing death to a child under the age of 8.

Ka Yang, 29, also faces a special circumstance that the murder was intentional and involved torture, which, if found true, could make her eligible for the death penalty or life without parole.

Part of me wants to say "well I hope so!" and then another part of me thinks "She's very obviously mentally ill."

All I can feel is extreme sadness for the baby.

I'm trying to remember if the woman in Dayton OH who killed her baby the same way a few years ago faced the death penalty. I don't think she did. I think she got a life sentence.

Okay I knew this story was familiar but I wasn't thinking of the Dayton, OH incident.

She knew enough about right vs. wrong to lie to the police about what happened. I'm not a big fan of the death penalty, but for so long as we still have it, I can think of few people more deserving than Yang.
