James Arness, aka US Marshall Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke passed away this morning. He was the last surviving main character. R.I.P.

he (and his family) were very good people. they kept their charity donations on the down low. an organization that i belonged to as a young woman was the recipient of a major gift from the family. they never spoke of it in public.
