Re: advisor
Hi! An Alpha Gam, Sandy - I think, posted the answer on another thread. I did a search but, of course, couldn't find it.
I think that an AGD advisor has to be out of school 3 or 4 years, but the chapter advisor has to be out of school for 5 years. This is just a quick answer, I'm sure someone will come along with a more definitive answer. The best thing to do is to make sure that you stay involved with a collegiate chapter so that you know what the sisters and issues are like. I'm sure they would love to get to know you. If there is an alumnae chapter/club, join it and stay involved as much as you can. By getting and staying involved with one or both groups will let you know which way to get and stay involved. Best of luck to you! Quote:

As I understand it, and I could be wrong, chapter advisors are supposed to be out of college for at least five years (like Lynn said). I don't know how long other advisors are supposed to be college, but if there is a need for/shortage of advisors I don't think it matters. Two of our current advisors were in our chapter when I joined.

Hi Squirrely Girl,
There are actually no previous requirements to become an advisor to a collegiate chapter. As long as you are an initiated member of Alpha Gamma Delta and in Good Standing with the Fraternity, you're good to go. However, if you want to be an advisor for your initiating chapter, you must have been out of school for a minimum of three years. The Chapter Advisor must not have been an active collegian for a minimum of five years. I think it's great that you are interested in serving as an advisor. You should contact the Chapter Advisor of the collegiate chapter to let her know you're interested! Too bad you aren't in Hawaii.... I know I could use another advisor on my team! Loyally, Mai Ly |
Welcome aboard Mai Ly! It's nice to have another sister on Greekchat!
