History Help!
I know its a bad time to post this since lots of people dont check GC on weekend but i need help with an essay. Actually i need to write 4 essays but i can only do one at a time. I need help finding some information about the roles of women in pre-colonial Mexico. Does anyone knowof any good websites? It seems like i always search for things on the web and never find anything good. Any help will be great, thanks!

Wish I could help more, but Maximillan of Mexico is buried in a very small church in Vienna Aust. as part of the Hapsburg dynasty! Well not buried but in a bath thub like casket across from St Stephen Catherdral!
Is one of the most amazing places I have seen! All Of the Hapsburgs are Placed there untill Maria Terresa! Check Out Max! maybe that will get you there! |
Bucutie, I am a history major although my concentration is American (United States) History.
Generally I have found that if you want a reputable source on a history paper you are going to have to go to the library. Look for books on Mexico and look in the index for women. Also check out feminist revisionist historians. While there ARE sources online, I have yet to find one that consistently has reputable and helpful information. |
Try this link and give it a look. You might find something that helps. Google refines your search. This search was Women...
Mexico..."pre-colonial"...status of women" If you scroll down to the bottom, you type this into SEARCH WITHIN RESULTS so you may have some better terms to help if nothing I've pulled up works. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search I hope one of these links work! |
If your school library supports online databases like Lexis-Nexis, I'd say go for those. They have a lot of periodicals that have academic research, usually back 10-15 years. It may be current scholarship you're looking for, it may not be. My school uses Lexis-Nexis and it's the best thing that ever happened to me. I spend minutes researching a topic, whereas it used to take hours.
I wouldn't use the internet for anything other than very very broad background (ie, encyclopedic information). |
Thank you all for your help. You guys were right, you cant really find any history research on the web. I searched for hours and hours and only found one thing helpful with only one of four essays I need to write. The information I found was on the Myth of the Frontier and it wasnt really that good.
I think I am going to have to go to the library, but it will have to wait since I have a very busy day tomorrow and tuesday I am going out of town. AlphaChiGirl, I am going to look into it and see if my school library supports an online database like you mentioned. Justamom, I cant believe how sweet it was of you to actually go to a website search engine and perform a search for me. Thank you so much!!! :D :D I actually need some more in depth information and will probably find it at the library! I really did appreciate your effort though!! :) :) To the rest of you- thank you all for your time in trying to help me- i guess i will be spending more time than usual at the library the week after thanksgiving! |
