Is "brother-elect" SN's term for pledge? I haven't heard that term before.

Sigma Nu's term for pledge is Candidate. I've passed my candidate semester and just got my grades, which are acceptable. Therefore, I'm no longer a candidate, but I haven't been initiated, so I'm called a Brother-Elect until initiated.
