multicultural greek sorority need help !!
In 09 i become a greek the sorority was great at first but it all fell apart so i decided to go inactive bc of the Drama. So i talked to our Greek Adviser about giving up my letters and seeing about joining a other sorority of course we know that isnt going to happen. However, i was never given a sister pin nor a certificate of proof that i am a sister and intill this day ive yet to get one. We have all as a whole have talked to our HQ and yet nothing.. Could this be a loophole to where i could join a other sorority? If this possible i will be rushing a Panhellenic sorority not a MCG .. so would that help my case?

Seriously, how many more of these I-assume-I-can-just-slip-by-under-the-radar threads are going to pop up?
This is getting so old. |

ETA: I do have to give her credit though, since I believe this is the first thread of its kind to correctly use "apart". However, she more than made up for it with the rest of that mess. |
Honestly, there is no rule that prevents you from joining an NPC group (I assume that's what you mean by panhellenic, but if you mean NPHC, disregard this advice) if you were a member of a non-NPC group. If an NPC group extends you an invitation to membership, you can accept it.

@DeltaBetaBaby, so theoretically a person could be a member of a MCGO as well as an NPC organization? I did not know that.
My interpretation of the OP's post ... oh nevermind. I need more coffee. |

From The Panhellenic Compact: "A woman who is or who has ever been an initiated member of an existing NPC fraternity shall not be eligible for membership in another NPC fraternity." |
That is interesting. Perhaps some of the individual NPC sororities have more strict regulations even if the NPC body does not.
Not every NPHC sorority and fraternity prohibits (or has details on their websites) applicants who are members of another NPHC; NPC; or IFC GLO. Delta does and it is on our national website: One of Delta's requirements for collegiate applicants is "the student is not a member of any society holding membership in the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. or the Panhellenic Conference, Inc." One of the requirements for alumnae applicants is "the female is not a member of, nor has been expelled from, any society holding membership in the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. or the Panhellenic Conference, Inc." It's so important to us that it's on NHQ's FAQ, in addition to "If you are a member of another organization holding membership in the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. or the Panhellenic Conference, Inc. you are not eligible to join Delta Sigma Theta." ***This has yet to include other sororities such as those in NALFO. I have not noticed any sororities that are members of NALFO that have such applicant restrictions on their websites. Maybe this will be updated if attempts at cross-membership becomes more of an issue. |

I have an idea how they slipped through but will not say that is what happened. Quote:
