Now that the royal wedding is over.....
 

LONDON (AFP) – When Kate returns to north Wales with Prince William next week, she will begin married life with the knowledge that whatever roles she takes on, she has one definite responsibility -- producing an heir.

"If Kate is not pregnant in the next nine months, she will be defying 200 years of royal tradition," said Andrew Morton, a biographer of William's late mother Diana who has just written a book about the newlyweds.

I have a feeling that they will defy tradition, considering if William truly went by tradition he and Kate would have been married 5-6 years ago.

I also truly love how it is HER responsibility to produce an heir (preferably a male). HELLO you think in this day and age they (the monarchy) would realize that the male is the one who determines sex, not the female.

Most believe that they didn't get married 5-6 years ago because Kate wasn't ready to have children yet and they waited until she was, knowing that it would be expected of them early in the marriage.

It is the reality of marrying into the Royal Family. At least they lived together first.

This is probably pretty likely- that, coupled with the fact that they've confirmed that they were on a break so Catherine could decide if she was really ready to take the next step makes this seem probable. I don't know how you can consider the next step (marriage) without considering the expectation of children afterwards.

That being said, any child of theirs will be stunning.

Also- where will they be living?

My understanding is that they'll be living in the same residence where they have been, near his work. He is still in the military.

They will be living in Anglesey (sp?), in a remote area on the Wales coast, since he is a military search and rescue helicopter pilot there. That may be not such a bad idea-I hope they get a measure of peace, quiet, and normalcy there, away from most of the prying eyes and ears of the papers and paparazzi who made "normal" life so difficult for Diana.

Props to her for waiting until she (and both of them) was ready for it all. :D

It always sounded like a miserable life to me but that's just my opinion. I was watching a show this evening about Princess Diana and how miserable she supposedly was. They said that she talked to Prince William as though he was her confidante. That's a lot of weight for a kid to carry.

As the British press points out, she is 29 - her child bearing years aren't as long as former Royal wives.

True- so they could still have 6-ish years before everyone and their mother assumes they are in dire straits.
