Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Just when I think it cannot get any worse in Arizona, this shows up:

Anything to keep the attention off all the trouble he and his department are in for illegally using departmental funds, not to mention the independent review of his officers produced by the Pinal County Sheriff that he doesn't want to release.

In other news, I was shocked when our lovely governor actually did the right thing and vetoed the birther and college gun bills.

I couldn't find her picture on the mug shot website :(

^^^ good, that means it was removed, OR he's posted a whole new set. The woman referenced in the article I linked has a history of mental illness. Her mug shot is heartbreaking. I don't understand the thoughts/morals/values that lead people to ridicule others who are mentally ill.

Mental illness is finally a hot button, at least in Pima County. January 8th, 2011 is still fresh in all our minds, and our Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is still fighting to recover as much cognitive function as she can after suffering a devastating, essentially point-blank gunshot to the left hemisphere of her brain.

The site mentions that it only keeps the mugs up for three days so it's possible it just ran it's allotted time.

It just started yesterday; I just checked, and her mug shot has been taken down.

I read about this earlier today, but the photo they showed was a man who was missing his jaw. :( Chances are he had cancer, or had suffered some terrible injury, but it's totally okay to laugh at that!

This man is a mouth-breathing asshole.

What birther and college gun bills?

As for Arpaio- I'm no lawyer but doing crap like this seems to be violating some right that these people have. I don't care that they have been arrested and I quite honestly don't care if their mugshots are on the net, but to have people be able to VOTE on a mugshot. Are you F*&KING kidding me!!!!!!

That is truly messed up and beyond low.

Come on Arizonians vote his butt out of office!

You hadn't heard about those bills? One required a person running for president to show his/her long form birth certificate (which incidentally AZ no longer produces) or a circumcision certificate or baptismal certificate to register in the state of AZ. Brewer said it was "a bridge too far."

The other allowed guns on college campuses on "public rights of way" but not in buildings. She vetoed that for being poorly written and not defining what a "right of way" is.

I lol'd because one of the sites I read had guy after guy saying "I can show my circumcision record any time they ask, but I don't see how it's relevant." ;)

And the latter one wasn't just poorly written IIRC, but also violated federal law, didn't it? How's the citizenship law going down there, I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

I don't live in AZ anymore.

It's amazing the crap the representatives in AZ will try to get passed.

Wow...it was an interesting legislative session. They tried to pass FIVE more anti-immigration laws that ran the gambit from not allowing children to go to school to forcing physicians to become an arm of the enforcement process. Luckily, the business community with the Chamber of Commerce (imagine that) fought back saying they'd already killed the economy with SB1070 so please STOP. Those bills were killed by a whopping 5 votes.

SB1070 is winding it's way through the courts. They lost a recent appeal and had to decide whether to air it in front of the full appeals court panel or go to the Supreme Court. I don't think they've decided yet.

I'd heard about the doctors one or a similar one before.

They're going to get their asses handed to them when they go to the Supremes, I really just see no other outcome, so they're probably better off delaying it.
