Making a better treasurer
I have just been elected as the treasurer of the fraternity, and i feel like there is a lot more i can do for the fraternity besides simply collect dues (a huge problem in our chapter), keep track of our accounts finances. I had a couple questions maybe people could help with
1. Does anyone have any incentives for brothers who pay there dues off right away? 2. Is there any power the treasurer has over attendance problems? No one seems to be doing anything, so seeing that i have control over the money i figured there could be something i could do? 3. What do you do in your chapter for punishments, as far as people who dont pay dues |

2) Check your chapter's constitution. Check to see if you can fine people for attendance issues. If people who haven't paid dues go to socials and what-not, make sure it is enforced that they do not attend. 3) If someone doesn't pay dues (and made no effort to pay), they will be removed from the chapter. Our chapter doesn't operate on hopes and dreams, we need money. A member also assumes the financial obligation when they join. |

Don't try to do everything dude. :) |
Our dues are cheaper if we pay it all at once.

In our chapter, there's a set period you have to pay dues. If you have financial problems, you talk to the treasurer and work something out, usually paying in smaller installments. If you don't pay your dues on time and haven't worked anything out, you become inactive and can't go to anything.
I second 33girl's advice about attendance. You can certainly offer advice or support to the person who's supposed to enforce attendance, but being treasurer is harder than it looks and that should be your main focus. Congratulations on being elected treasurer and good luck! |
20% come off the top of the dues if you pay all of it up front in my chapter, 10% if you pay it all within the first two months of the semester.
