I did not agree to anything, nor swear/promised anything, I didn't sign anything, I did not take an oath, didn't pay the initiation fee, and the most important I do not know any of their secrets.

My last president told me that since I did not go through the whole initiation (just the part all of the sororities/fraternities go through) I can join another sorority under NPC. However, my current president told me a couple of days ago that I cannot join another
sorority under NPC.

Who's right?

Hmmm....how do you "pledged for a sorority"? And "to initiate" is to start something....not to BE initiated. And how do you change your mind and WANT to "initiate", yet feel pressured all at the same time? And if I participate in sex for "only a few minutes" does that I mean I can't get pregnant? Or is that when I am supposed to "withdrawed"? And if you don't know any of their secrets, how do you know what is secret? Or is that a secret? And is your "last president" the "last" person that was president of the chapter that you don't belong to, or the "last president" of the chapter you tried to join before they kicked your sorry behind to the curb? And does the same apply for your "current president"...or are you really trying to get us to fall for something with the hook and the line (cause this post of yours for sure is a DAMN SINKER!)

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents with the rest of y'all: What sorority or fraternity lets you get initiated before you've paid an initiation fee? I've never heard of THAT before! hmmmm... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Ha ha ha, very funny guys! I am serious.
What is so suspicious about my post?
Just because I am in a strange situation, does not mean I am in a false one.

LET'S MAKE IT SIMPLE
I know you can't join another NPC sorority if you already had initiated for one of them.
But, can you join another NPC sorority if you only particated the first few mintutes of initiation from one sorority?

JUST ANWER THE QUESTION, YOU GUYS DO NOT NEED MY LIFE HISTORY?

Number one, your semantics are JACKED UP.

Number two, you have a lot of nerve DEMANDING we answer your question. Ha, good luck with THAT attitude.

Probably not the best idea to cyber yell at people you're looking to for opinions/adivice.

Just a thought.

Okay, seriously. From reading your first post it sounds like you're talking about a Pledging In ritual, not an Initiation ritual. If this is the case, that's a whole different story.

Ooops, meant to add this before I sent the last post: I'd just explain the situation to your NPC and let them tell you what to do.

somethinstupid,

I think you may be confused about some of the deffinitions of the words you are using. I do not think you would be pressed into initiation (maybe pledging). If you didn't want to be in the organization and made it known to them you didn't want to be initiated they won't initiate you. If you then change your mind and then decide you do want to become an initiated member the organization will usually make you re-pledge and go through the entire pledge program again. It's supprising they would even take you back at all.

What matters is if the organization, let's call it Group A,considers you to be an initiated member. If they don't and you have relinquished all your pledge pins, letters, etc., you would be able to join another NPC group after waiting one calendar year.

If the group considers you a member, then you would have to work with your national office to see if they can have your membership status annulled (not revoked). If your membership is revoked, you would not be able to join another group. If you could 'annull' the membership (you are saying that you were never fully initiated), you would be available to pledge another NPC group in one calendar year.

Answer these questions:

Did you pay your initation fee? If yes,was the fee reimbursed?
Did you pay for and receive your membership badge?

If Group A does not consider you to be a member AND you left the group in good standing, you would be eligible to pledge another NPC group, one year from now.

I don't understand the semantics of this. OK, you initiated? Or were you initiated? Am I asking a question that seems moronic, because it does to me, but who knows?

I don't know what the heck the answer to this is other than, if you paid for the initiation, whether you went to the ceremony or not, you're in because they have sent your name to their national. I never heard of having your membership annulled, but I guess anything is possible.

Guys seriously, if this chick was going to be initiated into any of the 26 NPC soroities-She WOULD KNOW the difference between the terms she is using and be using the correct ones. My only explanation is that she is talking about INDUCTION, which is done like right after bid day (at least I hope this is what she is talking about) Because thats her only excuse for being as unknowledgeable on this topic. If indeed it is induction (a ritual where you are formally recognized as a pledge of the sorority) then, yes after one calander year you are free to attempt to join another group. However, be forewarned that many groups will think twice about someone who originally picked someone else as there first choice. I sure would. You would have to be superdooper pledge of the year material for a bid after you went to another arganization.
