SMU Sigma Chi Bans Cargo Shorts
"The cargo short controversy went to the chopping block at the Sigma Chi house last week and the vote to forbid the fashion statement in the fraternity passed.
"It was the first time in our chapter that any motion had been unanimously passed since I was here," McGrory, a senior who has been active in the fraternity for the past three years, said. Many students find the recent amendment humorous but admit the cargo short look is not a good one." http://www.smudailycampus.com/2.7493...2136944#heroes Those SMU greeks DO have a reputation for looking sartorially splendid - but I had not idea cargo shorts were at all controversial. |
oh no...what's next-jort banning?
|
It's probably an April Fool's joke, looking at the posting date.

As they should!

Honestly, I think it's kind of funny. It's not hurting anyone, and if the chapter unanimously voted for it, it's not like they're creating a rift in the house or anything. Live and let live... just not in cargo shorts. ;)

I call April Fools too.

April fools joke, though one I could get behind....cargo shorts are not a good look.
|
It's April Fools, like the year we had the story about people getting arrested for milk crates...but that ACTUALLY happened the next year, so it may not be as far off as you think.
I'll say again, cargo shorts are out...jorts are out...Jams don't exist anymore...so they end up wearing, dad shorts? I just don't understand fashion among our young whippersnappers. |
It's clearly an April Fools joke. None of the fratty chapters would have to make a rule like that since a cargo short wearing Abercrombite wouldn't ever make it into the chapter in the first place.
|
April Fools..and probably some shameless self promotion because this past week was Derby Days for their philanthropy :)
