The Real World: Las Vegas

I searched but didn't see a thread for the newest season of the Real World.

I just watched the first episode and it seems like there is going to be a lot of action this season.

Predictions:
Nany and her bf WILL break up,
Michael will not leave with the same moral code he went to Vegas with,
I think Heather & Dustin are going to be a post-season couple,
Adam will be sent home, I'll guess within the first 5 or 6 episodes,
and the pregnancy test mentioned in the spoiler after Ep1 will be negative.

We'll see!!

Anyone else watching this season?

Seriously if MTV still wants to do TRW, why don't they choose locations that HAVEN'T been too before? They've done NYC like 3 times now, New Orleans twice and now Vegas twice. And oh wait the last time they did Vegas Trishelle had a pregnancy scare.

I think when MTV "hires" these teenagers they say "okay you will have a pregnancy scare" and "you will drink to much and cause fights".

I remember a time when TRW used to be good. LOL.

I remember it being good 10 years ago but I believe it was because there wasn't any other reality TV options available. TRW, IMHO, isn't real at all. It's a bunch of college aged kids with no responsibilities other than partying living in a pimped out bachelor/ette pad for a few months.

@ASUADPi I remember when TRW and RR were the only reality shows on television (or so it seemed.) I watched them all the time. Saw this thread and thought "The Real World is STILL on TV?"

Do they reuse the same house each time they repeat a city?

The first 3-5 seasons of RW were good because reality tv was a relatively new concept. The creator of RW (rest in peace) had a vision but didn't have a formula for it, meaning they didn't create drama like reality shows do now. The cast members weren't told to say and do certain things because the producers didn't know what made people watch reality shows yet.

The earlier seasons also didn't use college students and the first season was about young adults who go to work everyday. It was their own job and not a job that MTV got for the cast. I appreciated the earlier seasons.

Ditto.

I liked the seasons where TRW was abroad (France, Australia etc.) because it forced them to stick together and start a new life together.

Not quite. In the Real World books from the first few years, they do discuss how the producers attempted to manipulate the cast into creating drama. In one notable (but never aired) case, the producers fabricated a story and injected it into the interviews to stir things up. They later apologized to the cast for doing so.

While I'm not sure Mary-Ellis Bunim's intention was what we're currently seeing on TRW (people of the same age drinking and making bad decisions), it was always the intent to manufacture stories. They "fixed" this by hiring more impressionable cast members who were more thirsty to become stars.

Are you talking about the published books?

I liked Dustin in the first episode but he made a fool of himself by flipping out on Mike after the truth or dare kiss. If anything, he should've been mad at Heather. She's the one who got up and practically climbed in his lap to kiss him.

Somebody does leave because a new cast member comes on in episode 6 or 7. My guess is that its Adam. I'm surprised MTV would cast someone with such a violent past. I don't care if it was awhile back, I wouldn't be comfortable living with someone involved in a shooting.

On a Greek note, I read Heather is a DPhiE from a school in Jersey- I think Monmoth?

Okay, I'm catching up on re-runs.

I'm not keen on names yet:

Truth or dare is a tricky game that I avoid. Both Michael and (name) were dumb to kiss each other when she knew that the guy she really liked, and who liked her, was in the next room asleep. And Michael was dumb in going along with peer pressure and doing it. He can't blame anyone but himself.

Then the Black guy goes the dramatic route and tells Dustin as soon as he wakes up.

Uh...yeah...Dustin has every reason to be mad that the woman he likes kissed his friend. It was disrespectful despite how (name) says she just saw it as a game. Truth or dare doesn't HAVE to be a momentary lapse in judgment. It isn't really a joke when you're kissing people and carrying on. I guess that's why I never liked truth or dare.

Besides, Dustin is much hotter than Michael. Always choose the hotter guy.

BTW, the Black guy has tight abs.

LOL.

Can someone please explain to me why (name) likes Adam? I don’t get it. And clearly she’s pretty much in love with him.. already starting fights with her boyfriend on the phone, getting mad that he’s all about her one minute, then bringing girls home the next, etc. Uh, yes honey, that’s how this works. He likes you, tries to get with you, you tell him, “No, I have a boyfriend,” so he goes out to meet other girls. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

We need to get these names together. LOL. I only typed Dustin and Michael because a commercial said their names as I was typing.

Adam is a moron who pretends to have no concerns. That's quite fitting for a woman such as (name) who wants her peaceful life to be chaotic. She was defending him to the others. They eventually hookup.

I remember Heather... and now that you say Dustin and Michael, those sound familiar. As for the girl who's in love with Adam... I only remember that her name sounded.. annoying.

This is true. He really does take no responsibility for anything. (Annoying name) even pointed out that any normal person would have been mortified and felt terrible if they pulled the same shit Adam did. And yet... he feels nothing. Either that, or he thinks he's just too cool for school.

And she still likes him. ::sigh::
