Non-NPHC/ Divine 9 para
Hey everyone,
sorry if this is a repeat, Ive been searching the internet and cant seem to find anything definitive so I figured I would just ask. I am a member of a IFC organization and have been saving up for a very long time to be able to afford the creation of a line jacket. I have asked as many of my Divine 9 friends/ co-workers I can and they all seem to be very responsive (in a positive way) to me getting one made. The honestly get very excited. The desire to have one made isn't in any way a form of disrespect or anything like that, its more so a sense of pride in my organization and something that I want to be able to wear (in appropriate situations of course). I will also be working closely with greek organizations in my career and think that it would be something unique to wear when attending events. I know that line jackets aren't "locked" to NPHC organizations but like I said above, I dont want to have one made and then offend members of NPHC orgs. If you think that its not my place to get and wear one then let me know. I get the feeling that not every NPHC member would be excited to see me wearing one as my friends are and dont want to walk up to an "event" and get alot of head shakes. Also, its not necessarily a case of "wishing I was in a Divine 9", I love my organization deeply and will until I die, but more so of having something made that is so very dear to me. Thoughts? |
To own and wear a line jacket, you must first have a "line." If you had a "line," get the jacket just as NPHC, MCGLO, LGLO, etc tend to do.
If you do not fit the criteria, you will probably get more stares from NICers and NPCers than NPHCers. If all you want is a jacket with your fraternity symbols and letters on it, that is not the same as a line jacket. |
Unless it's something that is regularly done at your school or something that your whole pledge class is deciding to start a new tradition with...you are going to look like an NPHC wannabe. IMO it'll look more like you're being disrespectful towards your current org by trying to mimic practices associated with another council, let alone what any NPHC members will think.
